The result of the discussion was: no consensus. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:19, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:OCEPON. Not enough articles and subcats to warrant an eponymous category, better served by the "works by" tree --woodensuperman 14:50, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom, but presumably the list article can be moved to the works subcat. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:19, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge for Now per WP:MFN but without objection to recreation if more non-works articles appear. - RevelationDirect (talk) 21:29, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep There are enough articles in the main category. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 16:21, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: @RevelationDirect: what merge target are you supporting?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, HouseBlastertalk 21:51, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: I agree with WikiCleanerMan. I don't think the articles in the Gervais cat would fit in the works cat and that they should be connected by category, and I think four is plenty. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 04:06, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete * Pppery * it has begun... 00:34, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: MOS:ANDOR wants us to avoid using "and/or". Gonnym (talk) 13:45, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Isn't almost every essay identifying a problem and providing a solution? Should we have this category at all? Marcocapelle (talk) 17:26, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Template: Wikipedia Essays suggests several different "categories" of essay, and the only one that arguably wouldn't fit in this category are the humorous ones. Like you, I am not particularly convinced that this category should be kept at all. Therefore, weak delete. VegaDark (talk) 00:49, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: There is no opposition to the proposed rename, but outright deletion is very much a possible outcome. In other words, if there is no further participation in a week I would close this as rename with no consensus on deletion.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, HouseBlastertalk 21:32, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • As meanwhile there hasn't been any good argument offered why this category should exist I am voting more clearly delete. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:11, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Kurdish people. I am going to editorialize a minute and say I am dumbfounded that this is a category. I am going to do this one manually because it needs to be deleted as soon as humanly possible. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:16, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The intersection between ethnicity and criminality is not defining/ok Mason (talk) 21:02, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Empty duplicate of Category:Non-free with ND. Merge or delete, whichever term you fancy. HouseBlastertalk 16:18, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: manual merge. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 11:13, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Essentially a WP:PERFCAT violation. Per longstanding consensus, we do not categorize radio or television broadcasters for each individual station they may have worked for. Broadcasters typically do not spend their entire careers working for the same station, but much more commonly move around to multiple stations as they climb the career ladder -- so their careers are not permanently defined by just one specific station, and this would lead to extreme category bloat as they got progressively added to another category for each other station on their résumés.
They're obviously defined by the fact that they were sports broadcasters -- most people here are already categorized as such alongside this, though I've proposed a merger just in case anybody here isn't already in the parent -- but it's just not helpful or maintainable to categorize sports broadcasters for each individual radio station they may have worked for at some point in their careers. The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Lexington High School (Massachusetts) alumni. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:10, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: There are eight different articles for Lexington High Schools in different states, each with a disambiguating parenthetical. This category also needs to be disambiguated to make clear which school it is corresponds to. Dennis C. Abrams (talk) 14:46, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 11:15, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The files in this category could be deleted, it is just that they shouldn't be deleted. HouseBlastertalk 12:50, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:American theatre managers and producers. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:09, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Theatre managers and producers are listed together, not seperately. Additionally, the parent category has all listed managers and producer and is not divided by ethnicity or gender. Omnis Scientia (talk) 09:55, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Shouldn't this also be upmerged to American Jews? Mason (talk) 20:40, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Merge per nom. Mason (talk) 16:47, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge per nom and per WP:OCEGRS. Merging to Category:American Jews is not necessary, the first article is about someone of Jewish descent (i.e. not a Jew himself) and other articles are already in that tree. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:52, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: dual merge to Category:Jewish art collectors and Category:American art collectors. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:08, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Merge per WP:EGRS. Omnis Scientia (talk) 09:48, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Merge More of a WP:NARROWCAT than a, despite numbering 53. Consider also placing categories within an appropriate subcategory of Category:American Jews. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 19:39, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Delete per WP:EGRS. Omnis Scientia (talk) 09:06, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Merge to appropriate subcategories of Category:American Jews and Category:American police officers. There is no Category:Jewish police officers. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 19:56, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Objects in the Wallace Collection. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:07, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Avoids repetition of the word "collection". The existing Category:Objects in the Frick Collection already follows this style and it works well. Ham II (talk) 07:20, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Rename I concur, as creator. No Swan So Fine (talk) 08:03, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

NSW TrainLink short platform railway stations[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:07, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:OVERCAT, most railway station articles have standard categories such as the year they opened, the cities they are in or the operators that call at them, but these appear a bit fancrufty. Will shortly become inaccurate with the NSW TrainLink D sets that are to replace the NSW TrainLink V sets in 2024 having shorter carriages. That stations on railway lines are of differing length is hardly unusual and thus not really notable. Bramortui (talk) 07:10, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:TRIVIALCAT. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:01, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: The 2, 4, and 6 car categories in this nomination haven't been correctly CfD'd on their respective pages with the correct {{CfD full}} template, can someone fix this please?
