- Speedy delete per G1 and G10, history shows content about a gang with negative content about a probable BLP. Another category created by the same user has been CSD tagged for similar reasons. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 05:02, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Only entry is a sub-category concerning Aleksej Pechkuroy, who seemingly doesn't even have an article. Kj cheetham (talk) 15:25, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Delete, these (with the one below) are two categories that contain no articles and only link to each other as both parent and child category. In terms of categorization logic it is close to WP:G1. I have tagged the category page just today. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:30, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Complete overlap with parent category Category:Harry Potter characters. The only characters who would not be included don't have full pages, just redirects. --Qualiesin (talk) 15:07, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

Category:Academy Awards winners and nominees[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: delete. Also, move the three subcategories of lists into Category:Lists of Academy Award winners and move Category:Academy Award winners up into Category:Academy Awards. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 15:28, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: delete or purge this of bios - lot of issues here -
1. We already have Category:Academy Award winners, which essentially makes this an "Academy Award nominees" category, implying those who did not win. However, there are also people like Scott Conrad, who won their lone Oscar nomination, in this category. This means that theoretically, *everyone* who's ever been nominated for an Oscar could be in here, which would just be a bloated unusable beast of a category that wouldn't serve any real purpose
2. In general, being an award nominee has not been considered defining enough to warrant categories. A whole host of "nominees" categories were deleted this time two years ago. It's also something WP:CANDIDATECAT advises against.
3. If someone is included in this category, it's not immediately clear as to why, given the multiple possibilities offered by the title. Are they there because they won an Academy Award? Then why not the specific "Academy Award for Foo" category? Were they just nominated? Then why does the category have winners in it at all when there are already winners categories? Per WP:OVERLAPCAT, there'd be no reason to include someone in here if they're also in the "Academy Award for Foo winners" category (which are technically subcategories of this one).
My guess is that this category was created to house the list articles you see here/here, and then got out of hand when people start adding biographies to it. Maybe in its intended form, this would be fine. But, as it currently stands, there's no way this category cuts the mustard. Nohomersryan (talk) 06:46, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Containerise -- The winners have their own tree. We also have subcats by ethnicity and nationality, which if retained need a parent, but articles should not be in a main category and a subcategory. Peterkingiron (talk) 15:45, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Delete per nom, but move the subcategories to Category:Academy Award winners per addition of Peterkingiron. The subcategories should not get "lost" but it is not necessary to keep two category layers. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:29, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Delete per nom, but move the three subcategories of lists into Category:Lists of Academy Award winners (this is correct even though the lists are of "winners and nominees"), and move Category:Academy Award winners up into Category:Academy Awards. – Fayenatic London 13:16, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: rename and merge as nominated. – Fayenatic London 13:00, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:9th-century Frankish bishops to Category:Bishops in the Carolingian Empire
- Nominator's rationale: rename per parent Category:People of the Carolingian Empire. By the 9th century the term "Frankish" is outdated, we do not have a Category:9th-century Franks. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:52, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:10th-century Frankish bishops to Category:10th-century bishops
- Nominator's rationale: merge, by the 10th century the term "Frankish" is outdated, we do not have a Category:10th-century Franks. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:55, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

As the creator of these I am quite happy with this. Rathfelder (talk) 07:45, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Rename to Category:9th century Bishops in the Carolingian Empire. There seem to be enough to retain the by century split. Peterkingiron (talk) 15:47, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Rename to Category:9th century bishops in the Carolingian Empire; no capitalization needed. Her Pegship (?) 16:06, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- The Carolingian Empire is supposed to last from 800 to 888 so adding "9th century" is redundant. The previous century cat is Category:8th-century Frankish bishops and can stay as is. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:05, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Noted: but where do we put the 10th century category to match? Peterkingiron (talk) 18:21, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- There is no need for a match, Frankish will end by the 8th century, then we will have Carolingian Empire and in the 10th century it will split initially in three (including Lotharingian), then just two (French and German). Marcocapelle (talk) 07:01, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
- But at various times in the 9th century, were some monarchs of Lotharingia, West Francia and East Francia not also Holy Roman Emperors? Would a double parentage not be needed in those cases? Laurel Lodged (talk) 14:40, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
- The term Holy Roman Empire as a territory is just used for the eastern part of the former Carolingian Empire starting in 961. Before 961 there were also a few emperors (most were kings though), but these emperors were not referred to as emperors of the Holy Roman Empire, they just had the title Imperator Romanorum (Emperor of the Romans). - Propose renaming Category:American award winners to Category:Winners of American awards
- Nominator's rationale: This category is for winners of American awards (not American winners of awards). Also, "Fooian award winners" is used in Category:Award winners by nationality for each nationality (except the US). 1857a (talk) 11:52, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Marcocapelle (talk) 05:11, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
