Nominator's rationale: Not meaningfully different from Category:Wikipedians near oceans and it's former subcats, which were deleted per Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2017 October 26#Category:Wikipedians near oceans (and subcategories) in 2017. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:22, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:58, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: These is only 1 Catholic archdiocese in NZ. There is no need for a "by diocese" split. Laurel Lodged (talk) 16:49, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename and also reparent, or merge to parent categories, in either case because there is only one Catholic archdiocese in New Zealand. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:53, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: dual merge (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 18:36, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Dual merge to Category:Buildings and structures in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Per WP:SMALLCAT and precedent, this category (3 articles) is unlikely to grow significantly. User:Namiba 16:29, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge for Now With no objection to recreating if the counts exceeds expectations and ever gets to 5+ articles. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:48, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 18:42, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This category has no entries; it reflects a previous structure to Southern Hemisphere tropical cyclone season articles which has since been revised, so it's now redundant. Colonies Chris (talk) 15:42, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment This category is empty, as stated above. Liz Read! Talk! 15:00, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: procedural close, this is within the previous day's wider nomination Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_May_17#Category:16th-century_Belgians. I'm not sure why the original CFD template was removed, but it does not matter now. – Fayenatic London 08:17, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge, and redirect as a redirect will be useful for navigation. – Fayenatic London 09:03, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Before Belgium existed Rathfelder (talk) 09:32, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge, Belgium did not exist until 1830. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:32, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • As the Oxford English Dictionary puts it: "The name Belgium and related words appear from the 16th cent. in several European languages, including English, as a name for the southern regions of the Low Countries, both historical and contemporary, often in contrast with Batavia". So the word was in use before there was an independent Belgian state, and it is accepted English usage to apply it to "the southern regions of the Low Countries, both historical and contemporary". It might have been helpful to centralise discussion of "Belgian" categories, perhaps at WikiProject Belgium, to get more input before launching changes across hundreds of pages. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 14:03, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge but also split into Flemish and Walloon categories. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:29, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge per nom. Oppose the split which will just make things more messy.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:03, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge.Fayenatic London 14:40, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge, in most family categories there is no specific need to make a subcategory for biographies and this is not an exception: the parent category only contains the eponymous article and this subcategory. If kept, at least rename to Category:Corsi dynasty members or Category:House of Corsi members without capitals. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:57, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • RenameMerge as proposed for now. If non-biography articles ever appear, we can re-evaluate. - RevelationDirect (talk) 11:36, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Pejoratives[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:56, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: To match the subcats in the tree Category:Pejorative terms for people‎. Also, "pejorative terms" is more commonly used in English compared to "pejoratives".[1] (t · c) buidhe 22:36, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

  • Rename While we don't normally add length to article names to clarify that they are words or terms, since this category is about a type of terminology it seems clearer here - RevelationDirect (talk) 11:39, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:55, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:OCASSOC & WP:TRIVIALCAT)
The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget is a bipartisan American think tank founded in 1981 and this category contains biographies of very prominent political people like Senator Bob Packwood, Federal Reserve Chair Alan Greenspan, Congressperson Jim Nussle, and Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen. Tellingly, none of those articles even mention this association. According to the main article, the organization is overseen by a 40-member lager board of directors which may account for much of this category but, who knows, there may be other relationships represented here but they don't seem defining. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:08, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
