The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 08:55, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Inappropriate category. This is based on a highly biased term, used to delegitimize opponents of the Indian government. --Soman (talk) 22:10, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, just a pejorative adopted by the ruling party and used in an ad hoc manner against journalists for publishing reports which might be critical of the government. Reliable sources don't tend to describe specific news organisations as "lutyen's media", the creator's spamming it across articles is a product of original research, unlikely to have any potential for appropriate use. Category:Bill Richardson[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 09:00, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCEPON and WP:SMALLCAT, this category includes Bill Richardson, Electoral history of Bill Richardson (which should be redirected) and 5 articles about elections in which he participated or was speculated to participate. Having never held public office outside of Governor of New Mexico and having been out of politics for a number of years, it is unlikely that more articles will be written directly involving Bill Richardson. User:Namiba 17:51, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete for Now Doesn't aid navigation with two legitimate articles but no objection if it ever gets up to 5+ (not counting the election articles not defined by him.) - RevelationDirect (talk) 23:18, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:31, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Two issues. The first is that "Disney Theme Park" should be "Disney theme park". The second is that the category says the posters are for "attractions", which should also be understood by the name of the category itself. Gonnym (talk) 17:38, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:30, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This is probably a C2D, but since it is used on this many files, it's probably safer to have it go through the normal process. The parent category is Category:Film posters, the article is at Film poster and all but one sub-category uses "film posters". Gonnym (talk) 17:29, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Single-user category populated by a series of userboxes that don't actually express an interest in editing articles related to hyperlinks. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:23, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: double upmerge as discussed. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:21, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This is a subcategory of "Swiss marxists" which contains the exact same contents, making this seem like an unnecessary disambiguation. Grnrchst (talk) 14:32, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I created the category as part of an unfinished (actually barely started) project of creating women Marxist categories to increase visibility of women within Marxism related pages. Here's the parent category for that project, which I clearly forgot to make the Swiss category part of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Women_Marxists I think that was a worthwhile project, but haven't had the time to pursue it so would have no objection to this page going. Will addd this parent category in case it is kept. BobFromBrockley (talk) 14:43, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment if there's no defining intersection between being a woman and being a Marxist, then this would be WP:OCEGRS (t · c) buidhe 17:03, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge to Category:Women Marxists per WP:EGRS. I am not certain whether women Marxists in general is a notable intersection, but Swiss women Marxists surely is not. The siblings should be nominated too. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:25, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with merging it to Category:Women Marxists, along with the others subcategories.--Grnrchst (talk) 08:05, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • The full merge proposal is:
I will tag these categories now. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:21, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • You are right. I'm adding these as a second merge target. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:48, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Short-lived political group that only ever had one leader and is now dissolved. A similar case to Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_May_6#Category:Leaders_of_People's_Alliance_of_Tower_Hamlets. (PATH was a split from Tower Hamlets First.) Nominator's rationale: Short-lived political group, now dissolved. It had a number of councillors, but only one of whom was notable, Rabina Khan. Same rationale as Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_May_6#Category:People's_Alliance_of_Tower_Hamlets_councillors, which had the same sole notable member in R Khan. This category does have a second member, Abjol Miah, but that's only a redirect. Bondegezou (talk) 08:31, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Military ribbons of the United States. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:18, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: These are already categorized in Category:Military awards and decorations of the United States. Like most US military awards, they are displayed on ribbons but what makes these awards "ribbon symbolism" I don't understand. (t · c) buidhe 07:37, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Colonel Weh with ribbons.
  • Keep and Rename to Category:Military ribbons of the United States. Following the naming format of the parent category is certainly awkward and this topic needs a main article but it seems defining. This is a both a physical device, shown in the picture to the right, and a class of awards. (Some cleanup may be needed based on shared name and making sure there are no actual medals that just have a corresponding medal ribbon.) - RevelationDirect (talk) 11:15, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure there aren't medals that US military personnel don't wear as ribbons like in the example. (t · c) buidhe 14:18, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're absolutely right that all of the medals have a corresponding physical ribbon depending on the uniform being worn, which is not defining. But the opposite is not true as not all ribbons have medals: many awards like Basic Training Honor Graduate Ribbon, Navy Ceremonial Duty Ribbon and Drill Instructor Ribbon are only ribbons. - RevelationDirect (talk) 16:13, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:17, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: rename and purge per WP:OCASSOC. Purge people who did not reach the summit. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:13, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:NONDEF. Our article on Matterhorn states: "up to 150 climbers attempt the Matterhorn each day during summer" (t · c) buidhe 09:32, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Both Per WP:PERFCAT. Listing every mountain climbed by mountain climbers like Sergey Kofanov will just lead to category clutter. - RevelationDirect (talk) 10:44, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nota Bene: the category was supposed to have people associated with the climbing history (i.e. at least mentioned in one of the Matterhorn related pages, therefore it includes only a *very limited number* of people), not just summiters. Zach (Talk) 12:10, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And I removed Sergey Kofanov from both categories, as there are no indications of any notable ascent. Zach (Talk) 12:38, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 09:20, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Category:Cimbalomists by nationality
  • Category:Canadian cimbalomists
  • Nominator's rationale: This parent category Cimbalomists by nationality only contains one subcategory which itself only contains one article of a relatively unknown artist. As well, cimbalomist is an awkward term for what is more commonly called cimbalist or simply cimbalom player. Would recommend simply deleting both categories here as they are not really in use (most cimbalom players in the world are from Romania and Hungary and neither country even has its own category).--Dan Carkner (talk) 04:45, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. But I'd expect to make sure that a category for cimbalom players stays reserved. Unclear if cimbalist or cimbalom player would be preferable. --Just N. (talk) 22:34, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

Nominator's rationale: Nondefining, discontinued and rather obscure Republic of China award. It does not have an article or category on zhwiki. None of the articles in the category more than mention the award. (t · c) buidhe 04:03, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. (Something like Category:Annulled recipients of British honours before 1945 could be created, but I'm not confident that it would survive CFD.) Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:15, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Since the award recipients category was [[1]], I suggest deleting this as well. Revokation does not seem significant to any of the category members who are all royalty so I recommend against an upmerge. Category:Royal Victorian Chain should also be deleted as well; without this subcat it would only have two articles (the award and list of recipients), per WP:SMALLCAT. (t · c) buidhe 03:47, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete for consistency. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:25, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete If winning it is not defining, losing for being monarchs of country that went to war against the UK doesn't seem defining. (No conceptual objection to the parent category but itsuffers from small cat.) RevelationDirect (talk) 10:40, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename and repurpose -- Category:Annulled recipients of British honours before 1945. This and two or three sibling categories cover German royalty whose honours were cancelled in WWI and Italians in WWII. Merge in similar categories for KB and KCVO. I think this will be better than upmerging to include them with modern cancellations, which the annulled parent mainly covers. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:33, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Cosmos Club members[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:14, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:TRIVIALCAT
The Cosmos Club is a private social club in Washington D.C. and these articles are split between making no mention and a passing mention of the club: no mention of the club is made in the articles for inventor Alexander Graham Bell, Senator Larry Pressler, and Representative Stanton J. Peelle while it gets only a passing mention with Mayor Louis Brownlow, architect Nathan C. Wyeth, and attorney David Carliner. Neither group seems defined by this association. I just listified the category contents right here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:57, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Just membership of an organization is hardly ever defining. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:26, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:13, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:SMALLCAT approaching WP:C2F, one eponymous article
The only things in this category are The Kennel Club and an image file that's already in the infobox of that same article. So this doesn't currently aid navigation but no objection to recreating it if we ever gets to 5+ articles. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:57, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
