- The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 19:42, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Eponymous category for a defunct company without the volume of spinoff content to warrant it anymore. This used to have a subcategory for radio stations owned by the company -- but it's since sold them all to Stingray Group, so that category got renamed to Category:Stingray Group radio stations and is no longer here. All that's left here anymore is the eponym and a biography of the company's chairman, making it a two-item WP:SMALLCAT with no further prospect of re-expansion. - The result of the discussion was: Merge Timrollpickering (Talk) 10:23, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Military Order of Maria Theresa to Category:Orders of chivalry of Austria
- Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, only contains the eponymous article and a subcategory of recipients. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:53, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Merge Small category doesn't aid navigation. RevelationDirect (talk) 01:01, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

- Propose merging Category:Ticket Hosts to Category:Radio personalities from Dallas
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCASSOC. TM 17:15, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Category:Impact of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic on the restaurant industry

- The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Impact of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic on the food industry. – Fayenatic London 09:43, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Only one of the entries in the category directly relates to the restaurant industry, the other is more general, the food industry. I suggest a broader scope, figuring on food, so as to include the food industry, restauration, as well as feeding people (such as food banks, school food programs, farming, etc) 65.94.170.207 (talk) 12:07, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- REname but to Category:Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on food industry. I assume "industry" can include production and distributiuon of all kinds. The articles need renaming to match. COVID-19 is the WHO name for the disease, which is only one of many corona viruses. Peterkingiron (talk) 13:58, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- If renamed, the parent Category:Disasters in restaurants should be replaced by something broader like Category:Food industry. But then Category:Disasters in restaurants may be added the one article that is specifically about restaurants. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:30, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment Category:Impact of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic on the food industry would be more inline with article names and other things.

10:48, 31 March 2020 (UTC) - Rename is fine by me; I'd suggest to food industry rather than simply to food --valereee (talk) 17:17, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: Merge Timrollpickering (Talk) 15:08, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Common names to Category:Names
- Nominator's rationale: With just one parent category and 2 child categories (that are only tenuously related to each other) this is an unnecessary category layer. DexDor (talk) 10:09, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support - per nom. Oculi (talk) 10:40, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support -- No clear distinction between the two. Peterkingiron (talk) 14:17, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support not sure what is being categorized here, but I would have assumed that brand names (a subcat of common names) is the opposite of the common (generic) name. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 00:09, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

Category:Thai League 1 clubs
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: keep (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 09:39, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: delete, this is a category by current status, but it may change every year, so it is not a defining characteristic. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:58, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Keep- Category:Premier League clubs includes all clubs which have been in the Premier League. Thai League 1 states there are 16 clubs in the League whereas the category has 23; so it cannot be just for current clubs. Oculi (talk) 10:35, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Then it is a very confusing category name for both of them. Clubs that no longer play in League 1 may easily be purged while the editor who purges does not realise the extended purpose of the category. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:30, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- This is true of most categories: they include present and past members. Bradford City A.F.C. is currently in the 4th tier. Oculi (talk) 16:05, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- There is nothing about it which suggests to me that it is for current clubs. Category:Serie A clubs (Italy): "This category is for association football teams who have ever played in the Serie A at one point in time." Oculi (talk) 15:54, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Sooner or later the current League 2 clubs will be removed from the category by an editor using Hotcat and not seeing this text. The category title should be self-explanatory which is not the case here. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:19, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose -- We have in the past spent a lot of time eliminating a "current"/"former" distinction in categories. We should discourage its reintroduction is most cases, as it means that the categories need a lot of maintenance. Peterkingiron (talk) 14:13, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related deletions. GiantSnowman 18:07, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

- Withdraw nomination. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:39, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Too little content. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 08:47, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Delete - if kept it should be renamed to Category:Coop (Switzerland) per Coop (Switzerland). Oculi (talk) 10:26, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Delete highly ambiguously named. It should be for Category:Cooperatives but it isn't -- 65.94.170.207 (talk) 12:08, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Delete with no prejudice against re-creating as Category:Coop (Switzerland) if more articles are created. The current name, though, is highly ambiguous. I'd assumed it was something to do with keeping chickens. Grutness...wha? 02:49, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Keep but rename to Category:Coop (Switzerland) to match main article. Coop is also the common abbreviation for a UK retail network, which is likewise an abbreviation of Cooperative or cognates. Peterkingiron (talk) 14:02, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Delete, Coop Switzerland is not a defining characteristic of the two other articles (beside the eponymous article). Marcocapelle (talk) 20:32, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

Category:Lake Geneva Yacht Club
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: Delete Timrollpickering (Talk) 10:25, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- Propose Deleting Category:Lake Geneva Yacht Club
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:C2F, a category with one eponymous article
- Other than the main article, the only thing in this category is two biography articles of living people that don't even mention this club. Even though both articles should be removed, I didn't feel able to use a speedy nomination for a category I just purged. The Lake Geneva Yacht Club is in Wisconsin and both biography articles are about Olympic sailors from the Midwest so I'm assuming they either trained at, or received an award from, or were members of this club. But, even if you added that connection to those biographies, it would leave us with a 3 article cat suffering from either WP:PERFCAT, WP:OCAWARD, or WP:OCASSOC. - RevelationDirect (talk) 04:03, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. Short article, no obvious material for a valid eponymous category. I have copied the main article to the parents. Oculi (talk) 10:32, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Question -- If we deleted this how do we preserve information on the two Olympic sailors connection to the club. The club article mentions one (without naming him)? Peterkingiron (talk) 14:07, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Links may be provided in the club article indeed. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:35, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- That would be fine. You could also add the information to the biography articles, if sourced. RevelationDirect (talk) 01:57, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- I also added the current category contents of the cat in the talk page of the main article. RevelationDirect (talk) 11:19, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- That would be fine. You could also add the information to the biography articles, if sourced. RevelationDirect (talk) 01:57, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

Category:Essex Schooners
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: Merge Timrollpickering (Talk) 15:09, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Propose Dual Upmerging Category:Essex Schooners to Category:Ships built in Essex, Massachusetts and Category:Schooners of the United States
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCLOCATION
- Essex, Massachusetts had a modest shipbuilding industry dominated by the Arthur D. Story Shipyards and there 11 articles in Category:Ships built in Essex, Massachusetts. "Essex Schooners" moves nearly all of those articles into the subcategory because they were Schooners. Since schooners are typically built side-by-side with other ship types, we have no other similar city subcategories under the Category:Schooners tree and instead use "Ships built in..." categories. The concentration of schooners here seems to have more to do with when that one shipyard was active than Essex being specifically known for schooners. There is no Essex Schooner main article and the intersection of city and ship type doesn't seem defining. (Alternatively, if kept, the category should be renamed to Category:Schooners built in Essex, Massachusetts.) - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:16, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Merge per nom. If consensus is to keep, then it should be renamed to Category:Schooners built in Essex, Massachusetts, especially given that a better-known Essex contains many of the UK's main maritime facilities, such as Tilbury Docks. Grutness...wha? 04:10, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support - all parts of nom. Oculi (talk) 10:43, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- support since there does not appear to be an "Essex schooner" type. Mangoe (talk) 14:45, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
