The result of the discussion was: delete. bibliomaniac15 22:25, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: per WP:SMALLCAT. Contains only the head article France 24 plus one biography. Both articles are adequately-categorised, so no need to merge. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:19, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: per WP:SMALLCAT. Contains only the eponymous article Fort de Kock and an image which I have already copied to Comons. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:13, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Shire of Hinchinbrook. (non-admin closure) Mdaniels5757 (talk) 17:34, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Propose merging:
Nominator's rationale: per WP:SMALLCAT. Each of these categories for small places in the Shire of Hinchinbrook, New South Wales are are tiny, with little chance of expansion. They all currently contain 2 pages: the head article plus one others. I haven't found any other articles to expand the categories.
As with many New South Wales locations, category creation in Queensland seems to have been a bit indiscriminate. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:07, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge without México Indígena. bibliomaniac15 22:10, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: per WP:SMALLCAT. contains only the eponymous Foreign Military Studies Office plus one other page. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:01, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. bibliomaniac15 22:12, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: per WP:SMALLCAT. This contains only 3 articles, and the target Category:People from Nandurbar district contains only 6 pages, so it is unhelpful to split out the city. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 22:08, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. bibliomaniac15 05:40, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Dual upmerge to Category:Houses in Johnston County, North Carolina. Small town of ~10,000 residents. Only 2 articles in the category. Unlikely to significantly grow in the near future. User:Namiba 20:37, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
keep The category now contains 4 articles. Population size is not relevant. Hmains (talk) 01:44, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Population size is relevant because it is a small town and is thus not likely to grow. That's one of the primary conditions of WP:SMALLCAT.--User:Namiba 14:15, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dual merge, the category contains two articles about historic districts that do not belong here, hence WP:SMALLCAT still applies. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:12, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • categories attached to NRHP historic district articles include what is in the district; houses are in the districts so the articles are in the county houses category and the city houses category as well as the state NRHP houses category Hmains (talk) 21:48, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • I disagree, we should not add articles about a broader topic to categories with a narrower topic. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:28, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
        • You miss my point, which was that NRHP Historic Districts containing houses have been placed into house categories as well historic district categories. You were removing districts from house categories saying they don't belong there. I am stating my observation of the current WP practice. Hmains (talk) 06:04, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: nomination withdrawn. bibliomaniac15 22:24, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Dual upmerge to Category:Buildings and structures in Jefferson County, West Virginia. Town of ~5,000 residents with 3 buildings in category. It is unlikely to grow significantly. User:Namiba 19:28, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Namiba: this is a very confusing nomination, you are proposing deletion and dual merge to a single target. Please use the standard formatting, how difficult can that be? Marcocapelle (talk) 20:34, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I will make sure never to have a typo again, thank you for the correction, master.--User:Namiba 20:35, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Save your sarcasm, please. Why do you not add both merge targets in the headline like everybody else? Marcocapelle (talk) 00:33, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
keep now has 4 articles and all such articles are parts of series; population size is not relevant Hmains (talk) 01:42, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dual merge, the category contains two articles about historic districts that do not belong here, hence WP:SMALLCAT still applies. Marcocapelle (talk)
After re-examining the category, I have decided to withdraw my nomination.--User:Namiba 12:29, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Buildings and structures in Centralia, Missouri[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge with no prejudice toward recreation if it can actually break the WP:SMALLCAT barrier. bibliomaniac15 05:40, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Dual upmerge to Category:Buildings and structures in Boone County, Missouri. Town of ~4,000 residents with 2 buildings in category. It is unlikely to grow significantly. User:Namiba 19:24, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep I was easily able to add two articles to the category, and I've not yet done an exhaustive search. Besides that, Centralia has some significant history with railroads, Jesse James, and is infamous for Centralia Massacre in the civil war; aka the town bats a little above it's 4,000 resident weight mentioned above. I can think of a couple other Centralia historical building articles I'd like to create as the two that were originally alone in the category were NRHP creations of mine, although I didn't create the category under consideration. Grey Wanderer (talk) 22:06, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the two articles you added because they were about institutions which occupied buildings, not the buildings themselves. One of them gave no description of the building whatsoever. WP:SMALLCAT applies because, as small town, it is unlikely to ever have more than a few notable buildings.--User:Namiba 14:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dual merge per WP:SMALLCAT without objection to recreation when the category can be populated by more than a handful of articles. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:20, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Invertebrates of Central America. (non-admin closure) Mdaniels5757 (talk) 17:35, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: That a species (e.g. Marisa cornuarietis or Battus ingenuus) is found in one of these countries is often a non-defining characteristic. Example previous CFDs. DexDor (talk) 18:31, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. bibliomaniac15 22:19, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Servius Tullius only had two children. No need for this category. The creator of this category has had a bad habit of creating dozens of similar perpetual Smallcats for a while now. ★Trekker (talk) 18:21, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Were else would we place the relevant article? Dimadick (talk) 18:23, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Dimadick: At Category:Daughters of Roman kings and Category:Servius Tullius. Please stop Dimadick, you seem to willfully want to ignore clear Wikipedia standards when it comes to Categories. I'm very much getting tired of this, its honestly becoming an issue that you keep on insisting we should keep stuff like this.★Trekker (talk) 18:34, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • 'Comment And its not becoming an issue that it difficult to locate articles on clearly connected historical and mythological figures. How does deletion aid navigation? Dimadick (talk) 18:37, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as there's only one article in the category and that's well linked and categorized without this category. DexDor (talk) 18:53, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:SMALLCAT. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:40, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above. DrKay (talk) 21:04, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. I don't see the utility of a category for two persons, with no potential for expansion—particularly as one of the two entries is only a redirect. Two siblings, one of whom can be summed up in one line, while the other is known entirely from a single episode in history, and never mentioned again. P Aculeius (talk) 13:03, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Linguistic modality and purge — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fayenatic london (talkcontribs)
Nominator's rationale: Disambiguation. In article-space, modality is a disambiguation page. This is not my territory, so I am not sure which of the meanings of modality is intended here ... but it doesn't seem to be all of them. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 05:46, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially, it should contain several hundreds railway stations which are all notable, but I am obviously not going to create them during the nomination. As a goodwill gesture, I can create now one or two.--Ymblanter (talk) 07:22, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Goodyear family[edit]

The result of the discussion was: delete. bibliomaniac15 22:22, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Propose either
Nominator's rationale: This category is for the family of Charles Goodyear, the inventor of rubber vulcanisation. The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company is named after him.
However, the head article Goodyear family is about a different family, from Buffalo, New York, who were prominent in the lumber and railway businesses. If kept, this category should be renamed to avoid ambiguity ... but it contains only three articles, so it might be better to delete it per WP:SMALLCAT. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 07:02, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If that were the only issue, it could be solved with reparenting the category.RevelationDirect (talk) 00:02, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Note that WP:Categories for discussion/Log/2020 June 23#Category:Goodwood is discussing the proposed renaming of Category:Goodwood. If it is closed as rename, then the merge target here will need to be revised accordingly. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 06:45, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Shire of Winton is a sparsely-populated place, with a 2018 population of only 1,157 people in 20,000 square miles (the whole of the island of Ireland is 32,000 sq miles). In total, Category:Shire of Winton+subcats contains only 12 articles. Splitting that small set into sub-categories by locality impedes navigation.

The result of the discussion was: delete as WP:SOFTDELETE, i.e. these categories may be recreated if pages appear in them again. Category:WikiProject Lowell, Massachusetts articles contains 272 pages, but none are tagged as lacking coords. Presumably any talk page tagged with {{WP US}} plus e.g. Lowell=yes and missing coords would repopulate the Lowell category rather than the parent Category:Massachusetts articles missing geocoordinate data as suggested below. – Fayenatic London 21:18, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
