The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Lists of cities in Africa. (non-admin closure) DannyS712 (talk) 06:46, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: And merge back to parent category Category:Lists of cities in Africa. There is no need to make a category for these. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:41, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • This nomination is about lists of cities, not about lists of lists. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:05, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The guideline says a list of lists should also be available as an alphabetical category. That is, there should be a category with the same content as the list. The list of lists provides a place to give introductory information and to arrange the lists, perhaps breaking them up by sub-headings or sorting by size, whatever, while the category gives the same set of lists arranged alphabetically. In this case, we have a list with two entries and a matching category with the ssame two entries in the same sequence, which is technically correct, but a bit daft. I would say they should both be deleted, but the list of lists first. Aymatth2 (talk) 13:32, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Then feel free to nominate the list article for deletion. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:33, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The subject of "lists of lists" is being discussed at Wikipedia talk:Stand-alone lists#Proposed "List of lists" template and Wikipedia:Lists of lists, started today. All comments welcome. See Category:Short lists of lists, started yesterday, for other lists / categories that perhaps should also be deleted. This will grow. I would prefer to deal as a whole with this and similar lists / categories that only have a few entries once the principles are clearer. Aymatth2 (talk) 00:41, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Eponymous category for a TV show without the volume of spinoff content necessary to warrant one: apart from the eponym itself, this contains one of the show's producers and two of its puppeteers, meaning that it also violates both WP:SMALLCAT and WP:PERFCAT. Bearcat (talk) 22:57, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:07, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. After PERFCAT cleanup, there's be nothing left but the main TV show article, for which we need no category.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  22:12, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: only one article, about a journalist, already adequately categorised. Rathfelder (talk) 21:07, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 22:04, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom (i.e. per WP:SMALLCAT), and per WP:PERFCAT. These days, journalists in the main submit work to more than one publisher pretty often, so having written some stories for a particular publisher's papers is categorization by performance (in the broad sense) and not defining.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  22:13, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Overly narrow subcategorization scheme within Category:LGBT people. WikiProject LGBT and CFD both have a longstanding consensus that we do not want every category in the entire LGBT tree to be obsessively subcategorized all the way down to gay men vs. lesbian women vs. bisexual men vs. bisexual women vs. trans men vs. trans women. We permit that in a few specific instances, such as "LGBT occupation" categories that have hundreds or thousands of entries and need diffusion — but in most branches, including Category:LGBT people by nationality, we want the categories kept at the common "LGBT" level rather than always being quadrantized into separate subcategories for each individual subgroup. Similar categories do not, and should not, exist for "Gay men by nationality", or "Lesbians by nationality", or "Bisexual people by nationality", or "Queer people by nationality" or even "Transgender and transsexual men by nationality", and there's no compelling reason why transgender women need this more than any other subgroup of the LGBTQ community would: either they all get this treatment or none of them do, and there's no good reason why they should all get this treatment. And furthermore, three of these subcategories are WP:SMALLCATs with just one or two people in them. Bearcat (talk) 17:57, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename with hyphens. MER-C 17:11, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Fixes grammar that appears wrong to me. AlexiG42 (talk) 13:52, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, I can't see anything wrong with the existing name. (For a citation about AI versus AI, I found AI versus AI: Self-Taught AlphaGo Zero Vanquishes Its Predecessor, but this may not be relevant here.) Compare single/multiplayer: we just use names such as Category:Multiplayer and single-player video games, but if we used the word "mode" it would be "Video games with multiplayer mode", not "…modes". – Fayenatic London 22:15, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy rename as a typo fix (plurality agreement). Two unrelated video games do not share an identical "mode", since they don't have the same codebase. Every game has its own modes, ergo there are more modes than one here, even if they all involve AI versus AI demonstration. However, also hyphenate as "Category:Video games with AI-versus-AI modes" per MOS:HYPHEN (hyphenate compound modifiers). This also makes the category name much more clear; when I first saw this, I thought it was trying to draw a distinction between games with actual AI and games with AI modes, whatever that could have meant, and had to read it two or three times to get that it meant AI-versus-AI.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  22:07, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy rename, and hyphenate - I had the same reaction as SMcCandlish, and agree with his reasoning.--Alexandra IDVtalk 15:23, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
