The result of the discussion was: keep. MER-C 19:54, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Inappropriate category, appears to be a jumble of case law loosely related to criminal sentencing laws in the US but with no external validation or sources connecting them all together in the way the user suggests (strong signs of WP:Synth and WP:OR Michepman (talk) 18:59, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disagree - The Armed Career Criminal Act is one of those very broad federal statutes that is perennially being litigated at the US Supreme Court. I believe it makes sense to have a category of case law specific to it because it poses unique issues that are distinct from federal sentencing laws more broadly, since (unlike most federal sentencing laws) it is written to incorporate a lot of state criminal laws by implication. It's not just me who thinks that; most journalistic and legal scholarly articles that reference this law mention how frequently it leads to SCOTUS challenges. For example, the Washington Post (Johnson v. United States is the latest in a long string of Supreme Court cases about how to interpret the Armed Career Criminal Act); SCOTUSBlog (Questions arising under the Armed Career Criminal Act have plagued the Supreme Court since the statute was enacted in 1984 and amended in 1986; Vox (The court has been gunning for this clause for a while — this is actually the fifth case in seven years dealing with it.) and many others. I'm not sure what the rules on category creation are (I probably should have looked that up before making this one) but I do think there's independent third party sourcing that groups ACCA cases together as distinct branch of law. Omanlured (talk) 20:44, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose – I don't understand the basis of the nomination. What WP:OC criteria are we looking at? Is it that ACCA is not real, or that it doesn't have any case law? Of course ACCA is a real statute, and of course it has a line of cases interpreting it, as described in the article Armed Career Criminal Act. Those individual notable cases are properly categorized under Category:Armed Career Criminal Act case law. Perhaps one or more of those cases shouldn't be in the category, or isn't notable enough for a stand-alone, but I just can't imagine why we'd get rid of the category altogether, so long as it's not a WP:SMALLCAT. The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 19:53, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Only content is Category:Tamil language blogs, which is proposed for deletion Rathfelder (talk) 14:33, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Hey all. I just got a notification telling me that apparently I made this category. It must have been a long time ago. Anyways, I just came to say that I don't feel strongly about this category, so feel free to remove it if you'd like. :) JonathanHopeThisIsUnique (talk) 18:03, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Only one article. Rathfelder (talk) 14:31, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:43, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: It seemed wrong to remove the member page from the hierarchy of Category:Blogs, which would be the outcome of this nomination from the incorrigibly one-sided mergist Rathfelder, so I have added it to Category:Indian blogs. – Fayenatic London 23:56, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • There isnt really a decent hierarchy of Category:Blogs. It seems more sensible to beef up the website hierarchy. Rathfelder (talk) 08:52, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Rathfelder: noting that the hierarchy of blogs is less "decent" than it used to be since you have been single-handedly dismantling much of it in the last few days,[1] have you been acting on a consensus from a discussion elsewhere about that? – Fayenatic London 14:22, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've been putting articles into website categories by subject and country. I havent been doing anything to the categories. But there clearly arent enough articles for seperate subject and country categories for blogs. And quite a few of the articles were not about blogs at all. Rathfelder (talk) 14:26, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm inclined to propose to delete most of the small blog categories. I dont see being a blog as very defining. Rathfelder (talk) 09:59, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 19:54, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Category only includes three pages, of which two are redirects and the remaining article Shockwave (Transformers) isn't even about a Targetmaster. Main article Targetmaster was turned into a redirect. This category is now useless. Delete. JIP | Talk 11:58, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
