The result of the discussion was: Selectively merge to Category:Expatriate basketball people in Spain. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:56, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Categorization by non-defining characteristic. Spanish national basketball team players are not notable for being born outside of Spanish territory. TM 18:36, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:SMALLCAT. One-county community with just 2 entries. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 11:08, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: relisted at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2018 April 10#Category:Massacres_by_ethnic_group. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:27, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: merge, the two categories are too closely related to keep them separate. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:40, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I support that. Not a good idea to rely on ambiguous prepositions for a distinction. Rathfelder (talk) 11:14, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment how are these really distinguishable from things like Category:Anti-Armenian pogroms and the various genocide and similar categories? Is that distinction meaningful (I suppose you could have a pogrom that didn't result in a massacre, or a failed genocide that contained no deaths, in theory but they seem very closely related and ought, IMHO, to be grouped together somehow). The result of the discussion was: merge. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 10:32, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, currently only one article. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:30, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • If I understand correctly the place was never reported as haunted, it is just a tourist attraction. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:51, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ah - in that case, support. BTW, quite a few articles mention ghost walks (the usual name rather than ghost tours, by the looks of it), so a list might be worthwhile. Grutness...wha? 02:52, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: no consensus. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:34, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Is it me or does this category seem kind of arbitrary? Achievements and ingame score are two totally different types of progress. It also has an issue with potentially being too small for a category per WP:SMALLCAT. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 16:36, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - I feel it should be a sub-cat of Video Game Gameplay (Which probably needs a new name); as you're right. However, I don't agree it's arbitrary. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 08:22, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

The result of the discussion was: merge all. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 09:37, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: These are small categories with little chance of growth, and can be merged into their parents. Note: categories for larger cities (Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo, and Youngstown) are not included in this nomination. - Eureka Lott 05:17, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge all per nom. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:46, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge all per nominator....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 10:45, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge all per nominator. We do not need to obsessively subcategorize every film's setting all the way down to the small town or county even if only one or two films can actually be included in any such subcategory. Major cities with a lot of films set there can certainly have their own subcategories, but smaller towns should simply be left at the state level. Bearcat (talk) 13:59, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Ethnic Armenian lawyers[edit]

The result of the discussion was: no consensus. This nomination of 8 ethnicity/occupation intersections was based on the proposition that none of the categories meets the test set out in WP:EGRS: that the intersection is "recognized as a distinct and unique cultural topic".
.However nobody provided any evidence either way, so the balance of !votes amounts to a balance of ILIKEIT/IDONTLIKEIT, which can only be closed as "no consensus". A nomination such which relies on an individual assessment of each category is more likely to produce a consensus outcome if it deals with only one category (or maybe a small number of closely-related categories), so that editors can do some research and offer more than unevidenced assertion. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 00:37, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Overcategorization by trivial intersection. There is not enough of a distinct history of Ethnic Armenians in these professions to warrant a separate category. There is no need to merge to nationality and profession based categories since all articles are already in an appropriate subcategory. TM 13:26, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:EGRS, these combinations are not "recognized as a distinct and unique cultural topic[s]". "The basis for creating such a category is not the number of individuals who could potentially be filed in the group, but whether there's a specific cultural context for the grouping beyond the mere fact that politicians of that ethnic background happen to exist."--TM 22:25, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And what about architects, economists etc etc? I would probably support if this nomination would cover all relevant subcategories but I can't see the benefit of nominating only these seven and leave the others alone. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:54, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Whether there are oversights on my part on nominating certain categories or not should not stop us from merging these categories. I would happily support another nomination for other non-notable intersections.--TM 19:47, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep -- Some of these are somewhat small, but the parent is tagged as a container. Many of the subcats are sufficiently populated to be kept. I suspect there are people in an Armenian category who ought to be in these. Peterkingiron (talk) 18:20, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the parent category is tagged as a container, nor should it be.--TM 19:47, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge as lesser of evils, there's nothing notable about the intersection of ethnic Armenians and any of these professions, someone care to write a NPOV Ethnic Armenian banker article, e.g.? Carlossuarez46 (talk) 19:07, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
