The result of the discussion was: merge. xplicit 23:59, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge or reverse merge, in a former empire political history and politics coincide. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:31, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • While Category:History of the Ottoman Empire seems an obvious second merge target, former countries categories have the peculiarity that the entire former country category concerns history. Probably as a result of that, in practice the history category is mainly used for content that doesn't fit anywhere else in the former country category. Category:Convexity in economics[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:General equilibrium theory and Category:Convex optimization. xplicit 23:59, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: very narrow topic. In fact, all classification references that are mentioned on the category page (JEL and MSN) regard much broader topics than convexity in economics. No need to merge to the other parent category since that is a purely mathematical category. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:28, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Full upmerge -- The fact that the category needs a short article to define it says it all. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:05, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure). Marcocapelle (talk) 05:49, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCEPON, unwarranted eponymous category to hold only one subcategory with no other related articles. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 16:55, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Organizations based in Angola[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename as option B. xplicit 23:59, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Propose renaming under one of the following options:

Option A - "Organizations" to "Organisations"
Option B - "Organisations" to "Organizations"
Rationale: These categories all have the same national scope, so they should have the same ENGVAR usage. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 10:28, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The following discussions have been opened to handle similar issues for other countries
  • Option B – the parent category is Category:Organizations based in Angola and has been stable since 2009. Editors adding subcats should honour the parent and not muddy the waters by using their own personal preference. Oculi (talk) 08:47, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Option A -- Angola was a Portuguese colony, and should follow the usage for Portugal, which I would expect to follow British English. I expect that there is a cognate word in Portuguese and that it will be spelt with an "s". Greece should not be used as a precedent as Classical Greek has a lot of verbs ending izo. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:10, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Peterkingiron (talk · contribs) Are you for real? I can't begin to understand the logical gymnastics you must have performed to reach such an exotic conclusion. Meanwhile the Portuguese word is Organização, anyway. AusLondonder (talk) 17:25, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for providing the Portuguese word ç is pronounced like an S not a Z. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:33, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You do realise "organization" and "organisation" are actually pronounced the same? AusLondonder (talk) 18:07, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Category:2017-Tamil-film-stub[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete both category and template (non-admin closure). Marcocapelle (talk) 17:00, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Underpopulated, undiscussed stub type per WP:WSS/P. Created by a new editor, who we can assume hasn't consulted the policies in stub category creation. We already have a Category:2010s_Tamil-language_film_stubs and a further subcategory is unnecessary. The template is set to a redirect, but stub templates are dealt with here per WP:CFD. Please remove Template:2017-Tamil-film-stub as well. Keira1996 04:31, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment the nomination very probably concerns Template:2017-Tamil-film-stub which has been tagged. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:47, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • You are correct, thank you. I made a typo as the template is singular while the category is plural, thanks again for the catch. Fixed! Keira1996 02:56, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Non-notable intersection of LGBT people and Centenarians. TM 00:24, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Note: all articles are already in another centenarian subcategory.--TM 17:38, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
