Discussion[edit]
Is there an opt-out list? — Werdna talk 01:49, 28 March 2008 (UTC) Actually, come to think of it, I'd prefer an opt-in list. This needs access control. You can't let any old user send a talk page message to a thousand users. — Werdna talk 01:51, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Good point. This bot is only for sending newsletters to members of wikiprojects. I may add that you need permission from me. Thanks.--RyRy5 talk 02:01, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, your template doesn't work. Approval is conditional on you convincing us that a vandal couldn't just slip a note on there, and have goatse sent to 1000 talk pages. — Werdna talk 02:05, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- What if I was the one who delivered the newsletters and they would have to get my approval for me to deliver them?--RyRy5 talk 02:13, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, so long as you're greenlighting everything, that's fine. We do expect to see a working opt-out mechanism for people who don't want a newsletter. — Werdna talk 02:14, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Are you still pursuing this request? — Werdna talk 13:43, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I will soon test RyRyBot.--RyRy5 Talk to RyRy? 18:54, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Bot is ready for trial. 1 project is ready. Any comments on approval of trial?--RyRy5 Talk to RyRy? 20:21, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm inclined to decline this request unless you demonstrate clearly that: 1) it is 100% safe from vandals and trolls, and 2) that noone who hasn't opted in for such deliveries will receive a newsletter. MaxSem(Han shot first!) 09:43, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- max I tend to agree and say that future newsletter bots should be re-directed to Wikipedia:BOTREQ as we have an army of bots that can deliver newsletters. βcommand 2 19:23, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I do see many newsletter bots. If you guys don't mind, may I stop this request. I may try something else for this bot. Thanks.RyRy5 Got something to say? 02:34, 7 April 2008 (UTC) Sounds like a withdrawal. — Werdna talk 06:20, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
