We have quite requirements for articles about artist codified in WP:ARTIST that presume that the artist has a career as an artist. This is based on (local) human-interest stories about a child. Let's wait until his work is seriously considered by sources that are competent to evaluate the artistic merits of an artist (art-historians, professional art critics), the work is exhibited in notable museums or galleries or in some other way meets our notability guideline that is not based on "oh, look at this kid" type reporting. I don't usually comment on the quality of an artists work because it is so subjective, but in this case it is quite obvious that the work is by a very young, inexperienced hobbyist. The Østlands-Posten is a local newspaper with a circulation of approximately 14,000 Their article is about an exhibit in Stavern, and the only mention of Heimdal is "William Heimdal er årets yngste utstiller med sine 14 år." which translates to something like "William Heimdal is this year's youngest exhibitor at 14 years old." - Keep -- A misconstruction of the purpose of WP:ARTIST. The point of that and other specialized notability guidelines is to capture the consensus that in some specialized fields there are subjects who may not meet the GNG but yet are notable. If a subject does meet the GNG it becomes irrelevant whether or not they meet a special notability guideline. So maybe this subject doesn't meet WP:ARTIST, but he very clearly meets WP:GNG even just on the basis of the RS already present. A few minutes with GNews and GTranslate will convince anyone that there are plenty of other RS as well. The artistic merits of his work are therefore irrelevant, as is the question of whether his work is in museums. In fact, once there are sufficient RS to establish notability, the fact that he's an artist is also irrelevant. Maybe Jim Carrey's paintings e.g. are crap (or not; I have no idea) and they're not in museums, but he's still notable. 192.160.216.52 (talk) 17:38, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

Since you appear to have do so already: Can you provide those sources, please? I'll address the GNG vs SNG issue in a separate comment. Vexations (talk) 17:52, 18 April 2018 (UTC)- WRT notability for something other than being a painter, that doesn't apply here. The subject is only noted for being an artist. A "Femten år og kunstgeni" (Fiteen-year-old art genius). no less. I'll argue that because the only claim is that Heimdal is noted for being a painter (or a child genius), the author of the source ought to be qualified to make that judgement to be considered a reliable source. A local reporter from NRK is not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vexations (talk • contribs)
- Delete The four short mentions in local papers do not establish notability.104.163.140.141 (talk) 17:48, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- Comment. The Norwegian Wikipedia page on the artist https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Heimdal has many more references, but I can't read them. We need someone who can read the references on that page and judge how notable the artist is. It shouldn't be based solely on the four references currently on the English page. 21:07, 18 April 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ross-c (talk • contribs)

- You don't have to be able to read Norwegian to tell that wktheimdal.wixsite.com is the subject's own blog, or that www.stavernkunstogkultur.no/?cat=3 is an announcement. The author, Tore Bergstøl is the same for both articles. Perhaps they can explain the discrepancy. Vexations (talk) 23:35, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

- Delete there's no claim of importance or significance of this 15-year-old artist. Without compelling evidence that the coverage is non-trivial and isn't "human interest" pieces or media puffery, this should be deleted. power~enwiki (π, ν) 03:51, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
