Fake. Elections are not assigned Wanderer777 (talk) 20:11, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy keep Elections are required within three months of Karimov's death under the constitution. Number 57 20:13, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • Fact? --Wanderer777 (talk) 20:19, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
      • It's cited in the article if you had bothered to read it... But here's another one for you ("According to the constitution, Nigmatilla Yuldoshev, the chairman of the upper house of parliament, is supposed to take over after Karimov's death, and elections must take place within three months."). Number 57 20:21, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
        • must take place. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. --Wanderer777 (talk) 05:49, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
          • Please familiarise yourself with Wikipedia guidelines; WP:CRYSTAL specifically states that "Individual scheduled or expected future events should be included only if the event is notable and almost certain to take place". Or do you have evidence to suggest that the elections will not take place, in violation of the constitution? Number 57 11:03, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
            • " Individual scheduled or expected future events should be included only if the event is notable and almost certain to take place. Dates are not definite until the event actually takes place. If preparation for the event is not already in progress, speculation about it must be well documented. • What part of that supports your desire to delete the article? It only supports keeping it as far as I can see. Number 57 17:01, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Even though there may not be Presidential elections that satisfy Western observers, this is the beginning of a major political event in Uzbekistan and the name of this article can always be changed.--MorrisIV (talk) 00:47, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Too soon. This is going to be an appointment of successor, not elections. My very best wishes (talk) 13:57, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. If a successor is in fact appointed and the election is aborted, then it will be time to delete.Wetman (talk) 15:38, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@My very best wishes: your argument is false. Technically it is an election such as syrian presidential election, 2014. Cf WP:POINT. --Panam2014 (talk) 15:33, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy keep per Number 57. Ueutyi (talk) 01:29, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep This isn't a crystal ball. Barring something truly remarkable, like Karimov rising from his grave, this election will happen. It will just be rigged. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 03:10, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Keep per above. MB298 (talk) 03:44, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. To resolve this issue I propose that the possible naming of a successor without an election be noted as an option in the Background section regarding this article. It is true that in the media it has been noted that the successor will likely be chosen or agreed upon by a small group of government individuals and family members of Karimov, but that individual may still only take office after being fielded as a candidate in the election and presumably winning, as user Editorofwiki points out above. Until that time the only reliable source with regard to naming a successor is the Constitution of Uzbekistan which foresees an election within 3 months time after the position becoming vacant and names the Chairman of the Senate acting head of state until such a successor takes office. Another scenario, as Number 57 pointed out currently has no legal basis or reliable source.Northernelk888 (talk) 15:26, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy keep This is disruptive. It's going to happen. Smartyllama (talk) 01:26, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
