Tyson Apostol[edit]

This article is about a reality television show participant, who has participated on two seasons of Survivor. He finished in 8th and 15th place on the respective seasons, and does not appear to have done anything outside of appearing on the show to make him notable. Hence, all the salient information is already covered in the individual season articles. I believe this falls under WP:ONEEVENT. Plastikspork _―Œ^(talk) 17:49, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Just as "notable" as any other Survivor contestant. That notability, if it rests solely on the reality TV show on which the person participated, is nonexistent. I disagree. Firstly, doesn't a survivor have to be worth noting if he or she reappears in a second season? Furthermore, I personally would have found it useful if this page had existed at the beginning of the Heroes vs. Villains season. It's much easier to click on one link that tells you about a particular survivor then to search threw their season's wikipedia page. When you have a page about a particular survivor, the information your looking for is right there. But on the survivor season page, you have to hunt for the information about that particular survivor because there's so much more information in it. Now of of course this wikipedia page isn't that useful yet, but with just a few additions (more details) this page will be one defiantly worth having having. Unless there are reliable sources to cite the statements, this is just an article that has information already covered in individual season articles. Editors who want this article kept should have a look at WP:N and WP:RS to cite reliable sources and improve this article. I would vote delete. A few previously redirected Survivor articles of the current players have cropped back up, and I personally don't think that appearing for a second time is notable unless they win, or at very least make the final, or of course had valid claim to a page in the first place. Candice Woodcock, Danielle DiLorenzo and Courtney Yates would all be others to be considered in my opinion. :) (Kyleofark (talk) 23:55, 21 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains is an All-Star-style season, and therefore will likely be one of the most lastingly famous seasons even after it is over. Keep; my opinion is that all twenty of this season's contestants deserve an article, since seventeen already have one. - I fail to see how being blindsided raises a contestant's notability. When Googling for "Tyson Apostol", the only links I found were related to Survivor in one way or another. Mr. Apostol is clearly only notable for being on Survivor, and thus he falls under WP:ONEEVENT—a guideline for whether to keep articles living persons who are only notable for one event. Keep I would have found extremely useful to have had this article before, because I myself was and am searching through Wikipedia pages trying to find out more about the Heroes vs. Villains survivors. As many of you have pointed out, I can go to the survivor season pages to get this information, however, season pages have two flaws: 1) Often times the season pages do not have enough information on them and do not cover the particular survivor I want to know about past when they were voted out. I normally want more information than that. Information that is clearly covered on particular survivor pages. 2) Often times season pages have the exact opposite of my last reason. Often the season pages have so much information that it is difficult to find the right bit of information that I want. This was the case with Tyson, because on the Tocantins page there is so much information that it is tiring to get exactly what I want about Tyson. On a particular survivor's page the information that I want is the only information there. Because of this, I don't have to worry about going thought paragraph after paragraph just to get the information I want. I'm not going to pretend like I know about all the rules on Wikipedia because I don't. However, what I do know is that an encyclopedia is meant to be useful in gathering information and Tyson's page helps me do just that easier than going though paragraph after paragraphs on the season pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.82.162.20 (talk) 04:02, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Keep. While some may debate the worthiness or otherwise of both the TV program and/or its genre, Apostol (and other Survivor contestants) are well-known (certainly by the millions of viewers). Deciding which of the contestants is more notable than another is surely subjective (POV?), so the better course of action would be to include all or none. Given that option, I would prefer ALL. Keep. The *entire* show is about the 18 or so people who appear on it. If the show is notable, it seems to me that each of the 18 are notable. I agree with smjwalsh and would prefer ALL be kept. (mantonino (talk) — mantonino (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.

One-event is a good overall policy, but my opinion is that this one event, namely the fact that this Survivor season is one of the more prominent ones, combined with the fact that each contestant performed pretty notably in their own previous season(s), merits all twenty of this particular season's contestants articles.Simple_butpowerful 20:49, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:ENT (or redirect to the show). We don't generally articles on obscure actors. Two appearances in the same TV show is obscure to me, and borders WP:BLP1E. I don't see much in the way of independent coverage either. The links are all to pages about the show, most hosted by companies that produced the show or are closely related to it. Keep: Not only was he a Survivor contestant, but he was also a professional athlete. Let's add more to his cycling information and have survivor as just something else on his resume. Go right ahead, if you can find information backed up by a WP:RS, then please do add it. The problem is at the moment there is little more than a summary of what he did on Survivor, which is why his notability outside of the show is being challenged. Thanks!
