Soulbound Studios[edit]

Soulbound Studios (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View log · Stats)

Non-notable game studio, seems like self promotion. Only sources cited were their own blog/Kickstarter. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 06:00, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete I couldn't find anything. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 11:26, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to the video game they produce, which presently enjoys article status here. --Izno (talk) 12:07, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - Well, their sole video game (which is vaporware - under production since 2000, supposed to be released in 2017, now pushed to 2019) has a Wikipedia page which seems to lack reliable sources and ought to be deleted as well. My hunch is that the article was created by someone who is working on the game. Cosmic Sans (talk) 20:17, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Info has been added about Soulbound Studios partnering with Improbable/SpatialOS as well as dissolvement of partnership so that server technology had to be piecemealed from other sources and put onto Soulborn Engine. Also added multiple citations from different sources.

As to the assumptions from Cosmic Sans above, no I do not work for them and just because a game is in production doesn't mean it is vaporware. Also, to correct your other statement, the game was in "development" (e.g.: he thought up concepts for the game) solely by the CEO of Soulbound Studios from 2000-2015, not production. Production didn't start until after 2015 when the company was founded. Bodymindspirit (talk) 21:08, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Lee Vilenski You said you couldn't find anything.... here are some mentions:

  • Redirect/merge to Chronicles of Elyria which all of the coverage seems to be about. As long as the game has an article, it's better to redirect than to delete per WP:ATD. On a side note, "vaporware" is not a sufficient reason for deletion. Duke Nukem Forever was considered vaporware for years and still had an article because notability is not contingent on release but on coverage. Regards SoWhy 08:30, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to Chronicles of Elyria per SoWhy. If the game isn't notable, let's have a separate discussion on that. The company doesn't meet WP:CORPDEPTH or WP:GNG; refs are to press releases and their own websites. power~enwiki (π, ν) 16:18, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Power~enwiki If this doesn't meet requirements and all of you are intent on deleting/redirecting, then make sure you are consistent by doing the same for all the other game companies' pages that are in the same boat.... for instance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_Imperium_Games which only has itself for sources. Bodymindspirit (talk) 18:48, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Bodymindspirit: We have an essay called "Other stuff exists". It would be valuable for you to read it. You should also read our policy on being pointy (so don't go nominating stuff for deletion just because this page was nominated). --Izno (talk) 14:09, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect/delete coverage is almost entirely about Chronicles of Elyria, the most notable product produced by Soulbound. WP:TOOSOON may also be at play given the company was recently formulated. Stop now to avoid my anecdote; In the long term, this may be a case akin to some companies from the 19th century that produced products that are notable (and oft-cited by future inventors or scholars) whereas the companies themselves have been lost to time. The bust survives the city. SamHolt6 (talk) 13:37, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
