This is non-encyclopedic beyond repair, a personal essay based, by the look of it, on nationalist pride. Put it outta its misery. Anmccaff (talk) 02:36, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete I believe that an acceptable encyclopedia article could be written on this topic. However, this personal essay contains nothing worth saving and so anyone interested in writing a decent article should start from scratch. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:51, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep This is a notable topic. It just needs correct information from reliable (and hopefully scholarly and respected) sources. Borock (talk) 05:22, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep The topic is certainly notable as, for example, there's a book about Slavery in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. The rest is then a matter of ordinary editing, not deletion. It's WP:TNT that is the invalid essay. Our actual policy is that poor articles, if they can be improved, are welcome. Andrew D. (talk) 08:46, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as is notable. It just is terribly written, so cleaning it up is what we need to do. ThePlatypusofDoom (talk) 13:03, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per above. A notable subject in history. I also concur with a Rewrite. Slavery in ancient Rome and Slavery in ancient Greece could be useful examples. GabeIglesia (talk) 15:20, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've attempted to clean up the article's lead, sections, and references, to make it less "essay-like." If I were a history major or had the energy to do it, I'd be able to put more effort into giving this article more content. And based on the existing sources, there does seem to be more info out there that's worth adding. GabeIglesia (talk) 16:06, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep But keep it with dated banners asking for help.VanEman (talk) 18:58, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. The article has been improved since the nomination, and additional improvement is certainly possible. As implied by GabeIglesia, this article is as relevant as Slavery in ancient Rome and Slavery in ancient Greece. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 01:21, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Thanks to editors who developed it during this AFD. But I agree with Andrew Davidson that if the notability of the topic is not in question (and arguments like wp:TNT indicate that it is), then the topic should be kept, with or without improvement during the AFD. I want there to be a bot that closes "Keep" any AFD where wp:TNT is mentioned! --doncram 12:14, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the topic is clearly notable. Dorpater (talk) 14:28, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep -- A notable topic, though the treatment is far from ideal. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:19, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep but rewrite. It's a major historical topic. But it needs to be rewritten. Smartyllama (talk) 17:36, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Per all the above.VictoriaGraysonTalk 20:29, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
