Bulk of article cites only press releases and official web site, impossible to determine notability, likely written with the intent of promoting the product but doesn't quite qualify for speedy deletion as "unambiguously" promotional. Even if the company meets WP:GNG the article needs to be rewritten from scratch. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 02:52, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • From the article:
  • This article may require copy editing for grammar. Update: has been done.
  • This article needs additional citations for verification. Update: The verifications used are used in other Wikipedia articles.
  • The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for companies and organizations. Update: The competitive chart shows the same vacation rental companies with fewer offices are listed in Wikipedia.
References contained now are not all press release but that is what is mainly available for references if anyone has information to show any of the references are false please list them here instead of opinions about the information or what someone may think is true or false.
References in the articles were used in other vacation rental industry Wikipedia articles. Also edited grammar and removed some references. References written by public relations — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jayfrankauthor (talkcontribs) 05:06, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - the only independent sources provided are those used as citations for the section relating to the company's competitors. Unfortunately, all that does is make those other companies more likely to be considered notable. It does nothing to make the subject more notable. What we need is significant coverage in reliable independent sources enough to meet WP:CORPDEPTH. Having conducted my own search, I can't find anything that could be used in that regard. The press releases listed in the article obviously aren't independent enough to count for much. The existence of articles relating to the subject's competitors is not enough in and of itself for this company to be considered notable. Stalwart111 06:08, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • We are students at Coastal Carolina and we did this report. We do not work for Rent My Vacation Home so we do not have access to data other than a search. Sorry maybe contact the company for more info but we did as other before us on this project. Is there some other reason this standard is set higher than other pages here. Is some information better then none and why does not 1 person find a fact to dispute anything. We assumed if the article was here everyone could add on to it. Is every article here held to this standard well just read the vacation rentals and no they are not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jayfrankauthor (talkcontribs) 08:37, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If this is a student project (with leaders/teachers/lecturers) then I would suggest they familiarise themselves with Wikipedia's notability guidelines before instructing students to create articles about subjects that are unlikely to meet inclusion guidelines. Stalwart111 08:50, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean IF this is a student project?. We are in travel and we tried many things to write about but they are already in the Wikipedia. We are starting to think in class that there are other reasons why anyone would want to mute a company from people finding out about them. For example someone that has to gain by directing all customers of Wikipedia to only a very few vacation rental companies. Sorry but to say NO just delete them and lets not let anyone find them here but we will direct them to xyz Company. Rent my vacation home has 115 offices and from what I can tell is the largest vacation rental network in the USA barring none and you want to delete them. You say the other vacation rental companies are ok because of references that you cant even dispute. We were going to do more work on Wikipedia but our instructor recommended this program with Wikipedia be stopped pending this outcome OF DELETION.I am also asked to not get involved with this on this forum as a student at Costal Carolina but to keep the topic in the class of 125. So this is our last writing here depending the outcome we may all cancel ALL of our accounts as this seems to maybe have other motives at play. The definition of encyclopedia is "A comprehensive reference work containing articles on a wide range of subjects or on numerous aspects of a particular field". Goodbye maybe forever and good luck in the future from Coastal Carolina. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jayfrankauthor (talkcontribs) 12:16, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you need to have a read of some of Wikipedia's guidelines (or ask your instructor to do so) to get a sense of what the Wikipedia community expects in terms of content, style and article development. There is no vast holiday rental conspiracy here (in fact I'm Australian so have zero personal interest in which US holiday rental companies are covered here beyond the requirement that they be notable). The fact that other articles of a lesser quality also exist is not a strong argument for keeping this article. Stalwart111 13:41, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Does anybody know if this or other similar related articles would be appropriate for Wiki Voyage (see list of sister projects on first page of Wikipedia!)? Crtew (talk) 15:13, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! Missed that completely. Also previously missed the fact that the company's blog makes a similar claim about the article being written by university students but attributes the work to students in Florida. Maybe the individuals involved realised that the IPs involved geolocate to SC, rather than FL. Either way, the claims above are now full of holes and this is starting to look more and more like a blatant case of advertising. Stalwart111 03:13, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(nominator's comment) I missed that as well, and I'm glad I did or I would have WP:SPEEDY#G11'd it and we wouldn't have found this information. By having this go through AFD it will mean any future version that is substantially identical and not improved can be speedy-deleted under WP:SPEEDY#G4, and if this editor winds up being blocked for bad-faith editing, any creations by him under any IP address or username that are discovered to be block-evasions can be deleted under WP:SPEEDY#G5. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 04:39, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am Jay Frank that is my full name and am no relation to Jay Kalin CEO.( I Wish). We did work with students from Florida that were in Myrtle For Intercostal Games that helped us on some of the article and should be cited for helping sorry about that. We also never contacted the company Rent My Vacation Home so I can see the info was wrong on there part. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.122.39.11 (talk) 10:47, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It looks very important to many that this company not be listed while no none wants to help in anyway. We already got our grades back and we got a A for the work we did.I have to say that I am very shocked at the decline , approval, and deletion that goes on here and the names that are used because of a simple report like this. Our instructor said pending the outcome this may be removed form the class work in the future so at least other students will not be subject to this. I see you want us banned and our ip so no one will ever report on this company unbelievable. Read this if you don't think there are other forces at play "will mean any future version that is substantially identical and not improved can be speedy-deleted". We also like this one "I'm SURE it's simply coincidence that this article was created by someone who just happens to share the same first/middle name of the CEO. His name is Jay Kalin and mine is Jay Frank it appears very oblivious that forces here will try anything to make sure this company rent my vacation home is not listed under vacation rentals and we are supposed to believe they are helping. If you want to help add to the listing or just delete it I already got an A and got no help form anyone here at all just insults about me and my family name. The instructor was nice to let me post this last entry since you attacked me personally Jay Frank. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.122.39.11 (talk) 12:47, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you're wanting to read more into my pointing out the coincidence that "Jay Frank Kalin" and "Jay Frank" is, I'm sure, only a coincidence, along with the link to Wikipedia guidelines for those close to a subject contributing to an article, that's not my fault. If it doesn't apply to you, then it doesn't apply and there is no reason to try to put more meaning into it. The article, written by anyone, does not meet Wikipedia notability standards and searching online, it doesn't look like it would be able to meet the standards even with significant work. I'm sure you also know that an instructor/professor is not necessary to contribute to Wikipedia in a constructive manner and there are literally thousands of articles that can be worked on for those "in travel". I'd suggest you make yourself more aware of Wikipedia guidelines, independent of your instructor, in order to understand that this is not your classes personal website, and as such, has perhaps different standards than your instructor has. • Delete per nom. The last three references are irrelevant, as they're about the company's competitors and don't mention Rent My Vacation Home. --BDD (talk) 16:45, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - To make this article suitable for an encyclopedia, it needs good coverage such as from notable media outlets. A search at Google News found nothing except for press releases and a San Francisco Chronicle article that turned out to be a press release as well. For a company that has been around for almost 30 years, I would have expected at least one good news article. I even searched a Myrtle Beach newspaper but didn't find anything. Listing information about competitors is fine but it's not relevant to the company itself. Kudos to the author but there's not much to build a good article. No prejudice towards a future article or userfying. SwisterTwister talk 20:32, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • SNOW Delete. In addition to a news search, I also tried search for discussion of the company in books (perhaps vacation guides), but nothing turned up. I agree that the current sources do not constitute independent or significant coverage. This discussion doesn't need to run the full 7 days. • Delete Fails WP:CORPDEPTH. Of the seven refs, four are press releases, two don't meet WP:RS and the seventh has no mention of the subject. Miniapolis 23:22, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have posted several times and it gets erased ? why ? I found information about this company here with references and history: (redacted)
It is being deleted because you've been spamming that link multiple times onto talk pages and into this discussion. Just once is enough for us to be able to tell you that is isn't anywhere close to being a reliable source. Stalwart111 14:10, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Related information can be found at Talk:Rent My Vacation Home USA#Removing link to copy of material removed from this article. In short, the link provided appears to be identical to an earlier edit of the article while it was still at WP:AFC. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:32, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Which "kid" - you are the same person. Your contribution record is there for all to see. You used the same IP to sign off on a comment using the same name. Suggesting you are more than one person suggests you are trying to use sock-puppets. Your previous comments were removed because you were trying to spam an obviously unreliable source into various discussions. You posted the same link, like, 10 times. • DO NOT DELETE Someone is going into the site rent my vacation home usa and this talk page and editing the discussion and pages to get them deleted and suppress references like this one "rent my vacation home dot info". That is wrong and the motives are clear even to a cave man.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.122.39.11 (talkcontribs) 16:26, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - I can't find any coverage in reliable sources, everything that comes up is press releases and business listings. --bonadea contributions talk 16:35, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • DO NOT DELETE I Well it does seem like some people are very worried about this company rent my vacation home ? The same references used at rent my vacation home.info are used all over Wikipedia. Some say but this or that long story short you are treating rent my vacation home differently then others are treated. Secondly why are you treating rent my vacation home differently ? are these competitors, are they old investors are they people with hidden agendas. We say no its for the good on the encyclopedia yet it was published on here and had value just weeks ago now it has none. Lets hide the largest vacation home network 115 offices in the USA with 115,000 homes under the guidelines of it makes the Wikipedia Better. The Deleters scream ,I can't find any coverage in reliable sources ? I see the company and people use them everyday, I also see 100s of references that the Deleters have termed no good here but ok other places in the Wikipedia that don't concern the haters of rent my vacation home. I checked sources like rip off report ect and they have a clean record . Who benefits the most from this company rent my vacation home not being reported here !! for that is the one who screams the loudest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.122.39.11 (talkcontribs) 17:18, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Comment 98.122.39.11, please note a few important things about deletion discussions. One is that each contributor only gets one "vote" (it's not really a vote, because the closing administrator doesn't count the number of "deletes" and "keeps", but looks at the argument of each contributor). I have stricken the two extra "Do not delete" comments you made, leaving one. Secondly, please read WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS - other articles can't be used as arguments for keeping or deleting this article. It has to stand on its own merits. If there are other articles that are sourced only with press releases, they should either get reliable sources or be deleted, but that's irrelevant for this discussion here. Finally, please sign your posts by typing ~~~~ at the end of each new post you make. Thanks! --bonadea contributions talk 17:19, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note to the closing admin If the result is DELETE I strongly recommend searching all article pages for links to the page and either de-wikilinking them and replacing them with the name of the company unlinked, the name of the company with a website-link, or removing them entirely, depending on the usage and the value to the encyclopedia of having such links. It would probably be worthwhile searching all articles for the company name and all known versions of the company web site as well. I'm sure we can all trust your judgment to make the right call with these. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:20, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
