I see no third party sources, except a non-selective local history found in a total of 4 US libraries, and I do not think a mayor of a town of 48,000 population is intrinsically notable. I'm not sure where we should make the cutoff for mayors , but it would above here. (I have similar comments about most of the other mayors of this town, but this will do as a test case. - Delete I believe the standard for keeping a mayor is to govern over a City of regional prominence, rather than any fixed numerical population. As I wrote in WP:Articles for deletion/Gerald Schweighart there are multiple questions that should be answered in evaluating whether a city's mayor should be presumed notable including the city's population size (or regional prominence) and how the mayor is elected. Is the mayor elected city-wide or city wide or in a Council–manager government, by their colleagues on the City Council (and otherwise be another member of the council, and perhaps elected by a specific district or segment of the city)? My other comment is about population size generally. When discussing Champaign, Illinois, I noted that at a population of 81,000, it was the 380th largest city in the United States. Worldwide, there are at least 363 cities with a population of over a million and at least 842 cities with a population of over 500,000 World Gazetter. Even in the United States, there are over 289 cities with a population of over 100,000 List of United States cities by population. My other thought is that because of media consolidation, major newspapers barely cover the affairs of any particular city except for the one or two major cities in their delivery area. Finding reliable sources for smaller cities, I presume, is getting more difficult, unless the mayor does something that would otherwise meet WP:N. Finally, I have suggested that instead of complete biographies of mayors, it would be better to create a list of mayors from a particular town. That preserves the encyclopedic mission of Wikipedia and ensures that each subject is sourced by multiple reliable sources. Enos733 (talk) 20:13, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- MONROE IS a REGIONAL CITY; it is the hub of some twelve parishes in northeastern Louisiana and two or three southeast Arkansas counties. At one time it was the fifth largest city in the state but has lost population in recent decades to outlying Lincoln and Ouachita parishes. It is the birthplace of Delta Air Lines and the location of the first bottler of Coca-Cola. There is not much available at this time on Mayor Troy's mayoral service, as he is a pre-Internet mayor. The fact that he left Monroe and moved to North Carolina would be of interest to Monroe readers of this genre. Billy Hathorn (talk) 01:41, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep as subject easily crosses the verifiability and notability thresholds, was the mayor of one of Louisiana's largest cities. There are additional sources ([1], [2], [3], etc.) covering a sustained period that can be used to expand or improve this article. - Dravecky (talk) 05:15, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Concur with Dravecky as a mayor of one of Louisiana's biggest cities, he is notable and there are numerous reliable sources.
