The result was rename. This discussion really should have been closed with Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Presidency of Fidel Castro. There was consensus to merge that article with this one, so that's what's going to happen. I see appetite for a merger here as well, which if anything strengthens the consensus that was found in the other discussion. It has been pointed out that the merged article would need a new name, so I'm going with Cuba under Fidel Castro, as it seems that name hasn't been objected to. If someone feels it necessary, further discussion on a new name should take place as a(n) WP:RM, and further discussion regarding the merger should take place on the talk page. -- Tavix (talk) 17:55, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

The article essentially repeats verbatim a section in Fidel Castro with no new information. In the three years of its existence, it has not expanded beyond that. Scaleshombre (talk) 05:55, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

- Comment There is a proposal on the article's talk page to merge it with Presidency of Fidel Castro that is only two days old. Is there any particular reason it should be deleted rather than merged? Joe Roe (talk) 09:51, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- Merging the two seems a fairly good idea; deleting them less so. Midnightblueowl (talk) 10:36, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- Presidency of Fidel Castro suffers from the same problem. There's no significant information that doesn't already appear in the main Fidel Castro article. It's being considered for deletion, too. Scaleshombre (talk) 16:18, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- The main Fidel Castro article may well have to be trimmed as it makes its way towards FA. The other articles constitute a place for any extraneous information. I think that they should be kept, although a merger might well be in order. Midnightblueowl (talk) 16:16, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- Comment there's also a related AfD nomination for Presidency of Fidel Castro at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Presidency of Fidel Castro -- 65.94.171.217 (talk) 05:46, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
- Delete also Presidency of Fidel Castro. We have a long biography (with 425 references). I so not see the purpose of having separate articles on different parts of his life. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:05, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
- Merge Presidency of Fidel Castro with Premiership of Fidel Castro, per WP:PRESERVE, pending FA development at Fidel Castro for detail that may be better off trimmed from the main article. It may be that the merged article should then be renamed, I don't have a rename proposal in mind however. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 19:47, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

- Merge - 'Presidency of Fidel Castro' and 'Premiership of Fidel Castro' both need to be turned into one article, called something such as 'Administration of Fidel Castro', 'Governance by Fidel Castro', or 'Regime of Fidel Castro'. This is the most logical thing to do. We really ought to do it. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 11:24, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
- If things weren't in such flux right now, I likely would be bold and create 'Administration of Fidel Castro' myself as a broad overview article. I might end up doing that anyways. We'll see. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 11:26, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
- @CoffeeWithMarkets: I'd recommend Cuba under Fidel Castro as the title.--Nevé–selbert 12:56, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

- Motion to close - the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Presidency of Fidel Castro has closed with a "merge" result, seemingly making this discussion redundant, and discussion about the appropriate title for the merged article can proceed on the article's talk page. No prejudice against renominating the merged article, once that's done. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:15, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
