Non notable cat; despite news stories violates WP:NOTNEWS & WP:N mhking (talk) 16:39, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- DELETE. This is no Sockington. This is just an entity which happened to receive trivial coverage as part of a larger story about how shameless diploma mills are these days. JBsupreme (talk) 16:40, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete/Redirect: It's an amusing story that I enjoyed, the cat has a most wonderful name but, the cat does not really seem notable to me. TallMagic (talk) 20:47, 17 August 2009 (UTC) Actually rather than deleting the article altogether, I propose a redirect to Diploma mills in the United States where Oreo Collins is referenced. Thanks, TallMagic (talk) 20:59, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Merge and Redirect to Colby Nolan. Colby Nolan seems to have been the best known cat to have been awarded a diploma mill credential due to an owner's submission of an application. The Oreo Collins case is one of several copycat incidents (yes, I had to say copycat!), two others of which are now documented in the Colby Nolan article. It is most reasonable to discuss the Oreo Collins case on the context of the Colby Nolan story (and it's more satisfying to group Oreo's story with the stories of other cats). --Orlady (talk) 00:35, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- But since Oreo is only related to Colby in similarity of theme, might it make more sense to redirect both to some new topic (Diplo-cats!) (Oh, okay, feline diploma mill graduates)?? -- Nat Gertler (talk) 01:32, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- It appears to me that Colby Nolan is arguably more notable than Oreo Collins because the fact that Colby received two degrees from Trinity Southern University apparently was a major piece of evidence in the legal actions that ultimately shut that diploma mill down. Trinity Southern University is a redirect to Colby Nolan, apparently because of someone's judgment that the cat is more notable than the diploma mill that gave the cat those degrees. In contrast, all we have regarding Oreo Collins are some cute news stories. (If Oreo's diploma becomes a major factor in shutting down Jefferson High School Online, then the cat's notability may need to be reconsidered.) --Orlady (talk) 02:59, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm certainly not trying to argue that Oreo is as notable as Colby; merely that if Colby's article becomes a list of degreed cats, even if Colby is the most notable one, it may make be more logical for the article to be under some sort of degreed cat title, and have Colby, Oreo, and any other degreed cat mentioned point to that page. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 14:51, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
