An article about an unremarkable road in Australia is not notable Mackatackastewart (talk) 15:51, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • delete fails WP:GNG. No broader significance. Not a state highway. LibStar (talk) 15:56, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Query. As a non-Australian I'd appreciate some clarification about the status of this highway, It is marked as part of Queensland state route 90. (Various references to this are in the article, on Google Maps, in the listing at Road routes in Gold Coast, Queensland, and here.) This indicates that the road is under the responsibility of the state transport department. Is that still not a state highway? --Arxiloxos (talk) 17:24, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Firstly, re above: Per WP:AURDNAME, articles on routes are generally not created - they don't have the same significance in Australia as they do in other countries, and generally aren't themselves notable - they are rarely used by sources, with the road names used instead. As for this particular road, here's another source indicating that it is a state road, classified as as a district road (state controlled), and there has been some coverage of the road in terms of the 2018 Commonwealth Games [1][2][3][4][5]. There is also info on previous work on the road: [6][7]. I also have access via my university library to the following journal article: Williams, B. (2006). Two projects make one road. Construction Contractor, p24, ISSN 13249525, with the second paragraph stating "THE $38 million Nerang Broadbeach Road Four Lane Median Divided Duplication on the Gold Coast is an unusual earthmoving operation in a totally traffic controlled environment." The rest of the article gives more details on the construction works. I think that's probably enough coverage to show notability. There's probably more info in offline sources, but I'm on the other side of the country. (If I get more time this weekend I'll expand the article a bit, but I am busy in real life) - Evad37 [talk] 01:58, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Note that the earlier comments were made when the article was an unsourced one-line stub, I have since expanded it with the above sources - Evad37 [talk] 23:14, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This road seems to have attracted sufficient attention. There are a few published newsletters related to the upgrade, commentary in parliament and other reputable places about it, it's traffic, connecting roads, and history at least as far back as 2000. I think that there is a greater depth of sources than one some population centres and certainly enough to write a suitable article. - Peripitus (Talk) 10:30, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Evad37's points and extensive improvements to the article. --Arxiloxos (talk) 23:52, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
