Mima Renard[edit]

It is about an alleged Brazilian witch executed in 1692 in São Paulo. The source is an unreliable site on exoticism.

This story appeared on the Internet a few years ago and has become an urban legend without any historical basis.

The real Mima Renard was a prostitute who lived at the end of the 19th century. She was not burned and not even sentenced, since she had a favorable decision in court to hold her brothel in 1883.

A detailed comment with bibliographical research may be seen in pt:Wikipédia:Páginas para eliminar/Mima Renard. Lechatjaune (talk) 15:13, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. The only reliable source offering some in-depth coverage that I was able to find was this Aventuras na História story, but I'm still struggling to understand how being executed would make anyone notable, regardless of the reason. Unless more reliable sources are provided, at best it falls short of WP:N. Victor Lopes Fala!C 21:42, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. This shouldn't be deleted; if it's not kept it should be merged to Witch trials in Portugal, where she is discussed. pburka (talk) 22:17, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The reference in Witch trials in Portugal was added a few months ago, with no source to the claim that it is indeed a "famous case". It was probably added there because this claim is stated here. An unsourced claim in one article can't be a reliable source for that same claim on another article. Dovno (talk) 07:49, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Ah. If it's not verifiable, then the paragraph in the witch trials article should be removed too, I guess. pburka (talk) 15:49, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Having read the pt.wp AfD, I agree with Lechatjaune. Regards, Comte0 (talk) 13:32, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete -- An early question (since this is about a Brazilian subject) was "Where is the Portuguese WP article?". Others give me the answer that it has been deleted via AFD. The objection was WP:V, declaring the single source cited to be unreliable. It also pointed to a proceedings over a prostitute of this name 200 years later who was ultimately acquitted. Whether it was the WP editor creating this article or the compiler of the source cited, someone is guilty of WP:OR and has created a WP:HOAX article. The reference in another article must also be removed as OR. Peterkingiron (talk) 12:48, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
