Already have Category:Argentines of Slovene descent. WP:A10? CTJF83 chat 22:50, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Keep, in that it's been shown that there are apparently enough notable persons to justify the existence of a "Category:Argentines of Slovene descent" Mandsford (talk) 23:09, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]Keep; categories and lists are not mutually exclusive and can complement each other. Lists also have the advantage of being able to reference entries (which this list could do with) and can have introductory prose. Some readers prefer using categories, some prefer using lists. From Wikipedia:Categories, lists, and navigation templates: these methods should not be considered in conflict with each other. Rather, they are synergistic, each one complementing the others. --BelovedFreak 23:54, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]- Note: This debate has been included in the list of Slovenia-related deletion discussions. -- BelovedFreak 23:55, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete, pointless to have a list here. Geschichte (talk) 17:23, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete as we are not a directory. Just because we have a category on this isn't a reason to have a list of it as well, because lists and categories are not one and the same; each have different criteria and expectations. Having a category for this is appropriate because it categorizes the information and allows one to quickly see which of Wikipedia's articles are about Slovene Argentines. Having a list is not appropriate because the list is in article in itself, and as such it needs to abide by policies such as WP:NOTDIR and WP:INDISCRIMINATE, and the subject of the article (List of Slovene Argentines) must be notable in itself. - Delete I'm changing my vote, simply because the list is already part of the article Slovene Argentines. The nomination was premised on the grounds that we "already have a category", which goes with the school of thought that categories are the only way to arrange information. While I've seen that argument every so often, it comes across as intolerant and overly zealous. I think that categories have their uses, as links to other articles, but categories are not at all efficient. As such, I don't favor editing category tags out of articles. Some people prefer them, and there's room for that preference. Mandsford (talk) 17:09, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Changing to delete also - I should have looked into it further myself at the time, but now I see that Slovene Argentines exists, I think that that is sufficient. The list is not long enough to require a separate article. I still think that lists and categories can work together and complement each other (and so still disagree with the original deletion rationale), but in this case, the list should stay in the article Slovene Argentines.--BelovedFreak 18:05, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
