Unnotable list of flavors of Ben & Jerry's ice creams. Wikipedia is not a mirror for the Ben & Jerry's site, which already lists all of its current flavors in a more accurate, and useful fashion than anything we can do here. The only source for these flavors is in fact the site, making this nothing but a mirror, which goes against WP:NOT. It isn't a valid "split" from the main either as a well-crafted company article does not just include contextual list of all flavors of a product, but appropriate summarizes the company's products, highlighting those which reliable sources have themselves highlighted. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 00:09, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per nom. Sanity rarely ever prevails on Wikipedia when it comes to trivial and, well, to put it bluntly, stupid lists. JBsupreme (talk) 00:15, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge a select few truly notable ones (i.e Cherry Garcia) into a paragraph or two in Ben & Jerry's. Believe it or not, there actually are books on Ben & Jerry's, so this may not be as unsourcable as it might look at first glance. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 01:01, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep, with special note that nominator should not claim that benandjerrys.com is the only source when there are also references from the Boston Globe and MSNBC.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 03:07, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I said only necessary one as the list does absolutely nothing but repeat their own website list of flavors and descriptions, and please point to sources that discuss the flavors as a whole with significant coverage, rather than the one or two articles on the handful of flavors named after "famous" people. That is all the few RS sources in the article have look at now; two of those flavors have their own articles already and the other of which is easily mergeable to the main article. Press release regurgitation are also not evidence of notability. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 03:23, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge with Ben and Jerry's. I don't see much notability in each ice cream flavor, though some of the more notable ones have their own articles. TheWeakWilled (T * G) 03:49, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep We are the best information source for this sort of information in general, & can be trusted to preserve it--or we could be trusted, except for deletions like this. That some or all of it is presently on their site is no reason not to have an article--the same is true of many notable products. DGG ( talk ) 05:51, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- If this were an actual list of notable products we wouldn't be having this discussion. The brand may be notable, but the flavors, with very few exceptions, are not. Those which are can be described within the parent article. Wikipedia should not be used as a vehicle for advertising and promotion and I'm not sure why you support this list. JBsupreme (talk) 21:59, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep The article presents a discriminate list of a notable topic (per third-party references). The nominator does not present any valid reason to delete the article, as 1) information being provided elsewhere is not a valid reason to delete it and 2) independent and reliable sources are being used 3) the length of the article is such that if the information is to be presented on the project, it is fair to keep it in its own article. If a full-length (FA-class) article was to be written about Ben & Jerry's, there would be no room, space-wise, for this list. Arsenikk (talk) 08:06, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per WP:NOT#FAQ and put a mention of the more notable flavors in the main Ben & Jerry's article. To TheWeakWilled: I don't see any separate articles on notable flavors; the Cherry Garcia links right back to this list. Yoninah (talk) 10:58, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete This is mostly advertising. The descriptions ("Rich Buttery Ice Cream with Roasted Pecans"; "SMOOTH Vanilla Ice Cream Made with Fair Trade Certified Vanilla"; etc.) are pure sales promotion. Nominator is right that this is a list drawn from the Ben & Jerry's website. I'm sure that some of these flavors have been mentioned in the Boston Globe and on MSNBC (everybody remembers "Cherry Garcia"), but if the idea is to inform us about the currently available flavors at the Ben & Jerry's store, that's what the website does. When you mention a fun name for a new flavor, like "Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road", that's one thing. When you feel it necessary to describe chocolate ice cream as "SMOOTH Chocolate Ice Cream Made with Fair Trade Certified Cocoa", don't post that nonsense here. - Comment I just spot checked half a dozen of the flavor descriptions. They are WORD FOR WORD copies from the site. That seems like a WP:COPYVIO issue to me (and yes, they can and do copyright their descriptions of their products). -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 15:51, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Contrary to what I have heard from time to time, WP is not the best place to store information. It is intended to be a collection of articles to inform people interested in learning about notable topics. Ben and Jerry's itself should maintain a list of current flavors at their own website. Historical flavors should be listed there and/or at a Ben and Jerry's fan site. Kitfoxxe (talk) 03:43, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge the most known flavors (like Cherry Garcia) into the Ben & Jerry's article. abelson (talk) 08:59, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete As above, the flavors with actually stories behind them (as always, e.g., Cherry Garcia) can have blurbs in the main Ben & Jerry's article, the rest doesn't belong here. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:35, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
