At first glance the article seems well sourced to prove notability. A deeper dive at the refs, however, make the article look like an advertisement for the subject, as most of the sources are from the subject. I do not see notability here. Angryapathy (talk) 18:29, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

- Keep. Ivanov held the chair as full professor of informatics at Umeå University form 1984 to 2002, thus meets WP:NACADEMIC #5. Evidently the article was written by someone with good knowledge about Ivanov's work, and it might benefit from a seperation of EFNs from refs. Looking at older revisions such as e.g. Special:PermaLink/275434417, some references may be resurrected. But all in all I do not see an article here tarnished with advocacy challenges. - From how I am reading it, he basically was a full professor. I think a chair and a "named chair" are different things, and not what WP:NACADEMIC #5 is referring to. Angryapathy (talk) 14:09, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
- In countries with so-called free higher education, aka government funded higher education, such as Sweeden as well as the other Nordic counties, endowements for and naming of professorships is uncommon if not altogether rare. Hence the full wording of WP:NACADEMIC: "5. The person holds or has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research (or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon)."
