failed PROD with the reasoning "Verifiable currently/previously inhabited locations are notable". I am not disputing its verifiability, but notability as there it fails the GNG and there is no current SNG for populated places. 陣内Jinnai 04:55, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep per my dePROD rationale. It's a verifiable, inhabited location and common outcomes at AfD is that such articles are kept. Also this is the provincial capital for Makira-Ulawa Province in the Solomon Islands. And even if you set the stricter criteria of WP:GNG there are 642 Gbooks hits, not all about the town, but some are in depth pieces delving into the history, geography, ornithology etc of the location. -SpacemanSpiffCalvin‡Hobbes 05:34, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. This is well-covered under the five pillars: Wikipedia is more than just an encyclopaedia. It is also a gazetteer. This content properly belongs in a gazetteer and adds to the sum of human knowledge. Since the five pillars trump everything, the question of notability does not arise. As Spaceman Spiff correctly says, this view usually prevails at AfD and such articles are kept.—S Marshall Talk/Cont 09:31, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep - A capital of a province with a population over 30,000 up for deletion? Besides all towns and villages are inherently notable regardless of size, it took me a few seconds to find in depth coverage on this town. [1] The quickest time I've been able to set up an AfD is two minutes. Another example of why WP:BEFORE needs to be a absolute rule. --Oakshade (talk) 21:44, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - In addition to being notable as the capital of the Makira-Ulawa Province, it is also notable because it has an airport (Kirakira Airport) with scheduled flights provided by Solomon Airlines. -- Zyxw (talk) 12:53, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep all verifiable distinct settlements are inherently notable, and this is orders of magnitude more notable than most places. Thryduulf (talk) 12:41, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
