Absolutely nothing of note happened after Idol. Precedent seems to suggest that low-seeds get redirected or deleted unless they do something of note. She has not; every source I found ties directly into Idol. WP:BLP1E. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 01:49, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Regardless her state title and participation in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant suggests other notability - it's not the same case as someone who's sole claim to fame is Idol PageantUpdater talk • contribs 09:44, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- The nominator cites WP:BLP1E as reason for deletion, but that policy is explicitly meant to protect low-profile individuals. I don't see how "low-profile" could apply to someone who has gone on American Idol. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 12:04, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I agree; regardless of whether Murry merits notability for what she's done, that's an extremely egregious misinterpretation of BLP1E. I'm at a completely loss to see how "trying out for a nationally broadcast television contest and appearing thereon in multiple episodes" equals "one event," and the nom further suggests that BLP1E somehow applies when individuals are only notable for one job. That Murray has no sources about her that are not about her Idol participation is relevant to whether she merits an article separate from her season's, but that does not by itself mean BLP1E applies. It is meant to protect privacy where there is no real informational gain because an individual has no notability outside of a notable event, such as a natural disaster, crime, etc. Under no circumstances should it apply to one's own actions intentionally undertaken to gain notability, and certainly not in such a context as appearing on American Idol for Christ's sake. postdlf (talk) 03:43, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect to season article. Competing at a beauty pageant doesn't guarantee ntoability. -- Whpq (talk) 15:30, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached.

- Delete or Redirect to season article. Irrespective of showing in X Idol Pop Superstar or similar, could only be considered a notable artist if subsequently met the music notability requirements. A couple of (other peoples') songs sung at local events does not qualify. A1octopus (talk) 18:28, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - I think most Wikipedians (and most Americans) would place American Idol in a different category than other reality-type TV shows. This is the Big Kahuna, not low-level shows like American's Top 40 Wannabe Fat Losers or such nonsense. The runner-ups often tour nationally even before and after they get knocked off the show, as happened in this case. Precedent has been to keep some of the articles of the "losers" on American Idol because they pass WP:GNG and WP:MUSICBIO, see e.g., Melissa Sgambelluri. In this case, Murray performed five times on National TV, in at least three states, and continued her career, albeit at a lower level. Now, I'll be honest, I didn't pay attention to her and can't recall her, but I'm not one of her fans. Bearian (talk) 01:33, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep – Redirecting to the season article would be completely appropriate if all the coverage of Murray were passing mentions in news articles primarily about the TV show. But that's not necessarily the case. Here and here at MTV News, here and here at USA Today online, here at WHBQ-TV, here at the Los Angeles Times, this in The Dispatch, this in the Hattiesburg American, here in The Clarion-Ledger, and so on, we see the level of coverage for which we typically give a subject a separate article. If all the coverage were like this, it could more persuasively argued that it is merely coverage of the TV show and thus a redirect would be the way to go. - Keep - per Paul Erik. Murray is my favorite American Idol contestant ever. Based on her Twitter account, there is a possibility that Murray will be signed a record deal in the foreseeable future. Decimus Tedius Regio Zanarukando (talk) 06:06, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
