This is a case in which WP:NBASEBALL is technically met, but to such a degree that I fail to see how notability is actually established. (NBASEBALL says notability is presumed, not established, by a Major League appearance.) This player was a pinch runner for the Cubs in exactly one game in 1944 (confirmed at Baseball Reference: [1]). There is a capsule biography of him ([2]), which establishes that he existed and had a non-notable post-baseball career. He was also rated the "most obscure Cub to wear" in a history of the Cubs ([3]). I fail to see this confers notability, as it would be rather backwards to suggest that being named "most obscure" by a single publication in fact makes you notable. But perhaps it does. This has been tagged for notability for five years, so it'd be good to resolve this one way or another. AleatoryPonderings (talk) 23:45, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep As you say, NBASE is met. I see citations of him on Newspapers.com. He's obscure because he probably wouldn't have made it to MLB if not for the war, but he had a long minor league career and made it to MLB nonetheless. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:01, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. MLB players are notable. Spanneraol (talk) 00:17, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
