  • Keep. Well, what do we have here--a problematic article, copyvioed partly and translated only partly, and tagged by someone with more zeal than... never mind. So, the reasons given are not valid reasons for deletion (and supporting them does not help); "see all the banners it has"--yeah, added by the nominator themselves. A quick Google Books search confirms that this is a notable scholar of Costa Rican folklore, but many of the sources are (of course) in Spanish. This article needs TLC, not tags, inline comments, sneer, and an AfD. I added one English source, and I'm calling in the paratroopers: my dear Rosiestep, do you know someone who can assist?     • "See all the banners it has" as in "look at them, evaluate them, and discuss". Evidently you disagree. That's why this isn't up for PROD (which in my newbieness I mistook for AfD at first). The only one with "sneer" here is you, my friend. (What do you mean inline comments, btw? And what does my screen name have to do with this article being in terrible shape and not completely obviously about an important person?) Deus vult!   • Comment As a non spanish speaker, I can't bring myself to vote either way because I don't know if the rest of the article establishes anything justifying keeping it or not. And while just saying that it's a terrible article is not really an appropriate argument for deletion, the fact that it's not completely translated could lead me to suggest that either it be draftified (to the author or whoever), or we contact someone who can translate it before we continue with this AfD.   • Snow Keep per WP:GNG. Thanks for letting me know about this one, @Drmies:. Let's see what we have. There's this UNESCO page regarding Costa Rica's National Intangible Cultural Heritage Prize "Emilia Prieto Tugores". There is this page by the Costa Rican government's Instituto Nacional de la Mujer] regarding EPT. We find her biography here written by the country's newspaper, La Nación (San José). There's this that said she represented Costa Rica as President of the National Peace Committee. We have this which tells us that she founded the Escuela de Cultura Popular and the Worker's University of San José. The Costa Rican government dedicated a festival to her last year. I added the Authority Control and WorldCat, by the way, informs us that she has 15 works in 26 publications in 1 language and 116 library holdings. So we could keep this AfD going for awhile, or, we could make some effort to add this info to the article and close the AfD. We don't want to keep the paratroopers from weighing in, so I will ping @SusunW: (who writes about indigenous women), @Megalibrarygirl: (research librarian), and @Ipigott: (resident polyglot). --Rosiestep (talk) 03:00, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Snow Keep What part of BEFORE was done? Clearly no effort made to improve the article or verify notability. Neither poor writing skill nor being written in a foreign language are criteria for deletion, especially since the nominator's page indicates a proficiency with Spanish. Will work on improving the file tomorrow, but this is a very clear case of notability per GNG with multiple sources cited by Rosiestep from the national government indicating her cultural contributions.
