Article on a candidate that fails to establish notability via WP:BIO or WP:POLITICIAN. No reliable sources apart from his running for governor most of which are simple name checks in lists of candidates. Not enough independent, reliable sources for an article. If he becomes the party nominee (or ultimately wins the race) this can be recreated but until either of those things happens, or he gets more coverage for another reason the article should go. - Keep a major player in the New Mexico Gubernatorial race previously established in a number of political positions, sources exist to substantiate.
- "Doug Turner, Republican for governor". KRQE.
- Doland, Gwyneth (5/12/1). "Turner supports comprehensive sex-ed, would sell his company if elected". The New Mexico Independent.
- Steckbauer, Frances (4/26/10). "Turner gets know the East side of New Mexico". The Chase.
- Terrell, Steve (5/8/2010 ). "Public-relations pro Turner tries to avoid labels". The New Mexican.
- These and a number of others are turned up by Google News. Akirn (talk) previously User:Icewedge 07:59, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Noting the fact that he managed former NM Gov. Gary Johnson's campaigns [1], was endorsed by him, and his advertisement recently was featured on FOX News [2] Nhprman
- Delete or redirect to New Mexico gubernatorial election, 2010 as is the general rule for unelected candidates prescribed by WP:POLITICIAN. Nothing about this candidate seems out of the ordinary - the coverage is all campaign-related and he does not appear to have verifiable claims to notability aside from his candidacy - so the general rule should apply. --Mkativerata (talk) 06:44, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- That is only prescribed for candidates that are non-notable, not ones that are unelected. It is quite possible to be notable without yet being elected. Turner clearly passes the GNG. Akirn (talk) previously User:Icewedge 19:42, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep: I agree with Akirn that this guy appears to be notable under the GNG: the news articles are sufficient for this, in my opinion. Buddy431 (talk) 22:03, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so consensus may be reached.

- Delete The Republican & Democratic nominees will be notable regardless of which one wins . The people merely running for their party's nomination are not, unless they would be otherwise. I'm a little surprised we don;t adopt this formally--it's such a simple rule. Going into the 2010 and 2012 elections, it will eliminate a few thousand articles without much need to discuss them, and establish a few hundred, again without the need for debates. DGG ( talk ) 04:07, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Per above. Gage (talk) 04:40, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Weak Keep He is notable, but just barely. Mere candidates are not notable, but his work with Johnson seems to just get him over the line. Please note that he lost the primary election to Susana Martinez who was clear eligible for an article before the election and is even more so now that she is the first Latina nominated by a major party for the position of governor nominee. She didn't get an article until after she won. Turner is a PR guy so someone from that campaign created this article may be a bit prematurely. But nonetheless I vote a weak keep.--InaMaka (talk) 13:51, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
