Fails WP:NPOLITICIAN. Doesn't meet WP:GNG (as far as I saw; I only found a couple local newspapers). There do seem to be many David Gardners, though, so I googled "david gardner clark county". Thanoscar21talkcontribs 23:04, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - meets WP:NPOLITICIAN as a former member of the Nevada State Assembly. MarkZusab (talk) 02:09, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. WP:NPOL passage as a member of a legislative body at the state–wide level per MarkZusab. - Tristan Surtel (talk) 08:20, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. To be fair, the article was badly written, and misrepresented his notability claim by highlighting a school board candidacy (which doesn't make a person notable at all, and which wasn't even still "current" anymore) over and above the role that actually makes him notable — so it was very easy to miss that he actually does pass WP:NPOL #1 as a past member of a state legislature. Also, although I'm not knowledgeable enough about Nevada politics to fix the article myself, I can verify that his googlability does shoot up significantly if you search for "david gardner nevada assembly" instead of "david gardner clark county", so better sources are definitely available. • Oh, that's probably a reason why I didn't find much sources. Thanoscar21talkcontribs 16:44, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Yeah, that probably is. This is one of the reasons why I'm often seen in discussions (and edit summaries) harping on the fact that the introduction has to highlight the person's actual notability claim first, instead of (as often happens) being rewritten to prioritize less notable current activity ahead of whatever past achievement got the person into Wikipedia in the first place. That's not your fault in this case, so don't take it as a criticism of you — it's a criticism of whoever originally thought his (withdrawn) campaign for a school board seat was a bigger priority to highlight than his status as a former state legislator in the first place. • Keep - longstanding, strong consensus is that state legislators are encyclopedic, period. Issues can be edited. Bearian (talk) 20:21, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
