This event does not seem that notable to me, it doesn't really have a lasting impact on many people, yes a police officer was killed, but cops are killed quite often. Out of all the 2017 mass shootings, this one has the least amount of notability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by YatesTucker00090 (talk • contribs) 00:24, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

- The article does not yet document this, but it's had sustained impact within Colorado; it was "the incident that in some ways began Colorado’s push for a so-called 'red flag' gun law" [2]. That bill, which was just signed into law and has been extremely controversial (there have been many Second Amendment sanctuary declarations in response), was named after the deputy killed.[3] postdlf (talk) 18:04, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
- Keep per User:Postdlf, and the fact that there was national coverage and that regional coverage has been ongoing.E.M.Gregory (talk) 14:53, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
- Keep. The article may be written like breaking news, but as postldf points out, the event passes WP:LASTING and WP:GEOSCOPE as it led to a controversial reform in the law. • Gene93k (talk) 22:45, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
- Keep, meets WP:EVENT as is WP:LASTING, thanks to Postdlf for highlighting its impact regarding red flags, agree rewrite is required incorporating this info. Coolabahapple (talk) 04:53, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
