The result was delete. If users believe a redirect to Contest, where the term is not mentioned, is worthwhile, they are free to create one. ✗plicit 12:25, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

Dictionary definition. Mostly just gives examples of competitions. Also, completely unreferenced. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 09:49, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

- Redirect to Player (game) or better Gamer (see also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Player (game) I just started). Unsourced dictdef. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:04, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- Delete; in its current form, the article is only a dictionary definition. Unfortunately Piotrus's redirects aren't appropriate as a Player isn't always a Contestant, and a Gamer is only rarely a Contestant. Contestant is always contesting/competing (that's what the word means) while a "Player" may be playing with no feeling of competitiveness, and a "Gamer" is usually someone into electronic games, and in most cases isn't contesting in any particular competition (it says so, in the Gamer article; you wouldn't call a person contesting in a Tennis championship a Gamer). The article can always be re-started if someone finds sourcing and notability, but there's nothing worth salvaging in its current state. Elemimele (talk) 11:00, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- Delete Per WP:NOTDICTIONARY, or make into a soft Wiktionary redirect. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 11:07, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- Delete per WP:NOTDICTIONARY. I don't think either Player (game) or Gamer are appropriate redirect targets as they're only tangentially related topics. Qwaiiplayer (talk) 13:16, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- Delete per WP:NOTDICTIONARY - without any RS etablishing the concept, this is just a dictionary definition. Neither Player (game) nor Gamer are synonyms, so inappropriate redirects. Deathlibrarian (talk) 11:23, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- Surely directing readers to contest is the better idea? Uncle G (talk) 10:41, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
- That's... actually a good idea yeah. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 12:35, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
