The result was redirect to France at the 1928 Summer Olympics#Rowing. Consensus to redirect, and of the two proposed targets, this had no arguments against it. (non-admin closure) 2pou (talk) 18:06, 9 June 2022 (UTC)

There are not any sources beyond sports stat tables. He was a non-medalist so there is no justification for this article. John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:23, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

- Redirect Massonnat to Rowing at the 1928 Summer Olympics – Men's eight, per WP:ATD, WP:PRESERVE, WP:R#KEEP and WP:CHEAP. Unless, of course, sources are found. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:45, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- We should not be redirecting names of not notable people it is just not justified.John Pack Lambert (talk) 16:53, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- Actually it is, Lambert, per the four links I've posted, above. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:07, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

- Why, is that your actual real name and not a TV/film character, etc? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:23, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- Why is Mr. Lambert my real name? Because Wikipedia works best if people use their actual names. If there is somethign more to the question, I am not getting what it is. Are you asking why Mr. Lambert is my real name? To answer that is any way besides just saying it is my name is hard and would take lots of discussing lots of things. I have asked repeqatedly for you to refer to me as Mr. Lambert. I do not think it is an unreasonable request.John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:27, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- OK. "There is no attempt to single out articles created by you for deletion" as you've said many times - maybe you can help yourself here too. Why aren't you sending other articles you prod to AfD? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:34, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

- Interpersonal tempest aside, I think @Lugnuts meant Redirect Massonnat... not the editor's name Star Mississippi 20:12, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

- Redirect to Rowing at the 1928 Summer Olympics – Men's eight or, I suppose, France at the 1928 Summer Olympics if that's deemed more appropriate. Taking part in an Olympic games is pretty notable in itself. The club he rowed for were champions of France every year between 1927 and 1929, which I think is why their eight was selected to row in the 1928 games (the club has an article over on French wikipedia and would meet notability requirements here as well I think - so that's another potential redirect target). Redirects are cheaper than deletion, preserve page history and are an obvious alternative. Blue Square Thing (talk) 17:52, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- Redirect to France at the 1928 Summer Olympics#Rowing (per WP:PRESERVE, etc. as suggested above). Keep if better sources can be found (they would have to be offline and, probably, French). A redirect does not have to be notable, only verifiable, and we have sources that confirm the subject's participation in the 1928 Olympics. NGS Shakin' All Over 21:40, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- Redirect If he competed in the Rowing at the 1928 Summer Olympics – Men's eight, then of course he should be redirected there if not enough information to have an entire article about him. Dream Focus 14:37, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Redirect to France at the 1928 Summer Olympics#Rowing. Per WP:R#Delete #1, a redirect to Rowing at the 1928 Summer Olympics – Men's eight would be inappropriate, as it would make it too difficult for readers to find the other valid target. I don't see any real benefit to having a redirect here, but while no other Charles Massonnat's are mentioned on Wikipedia it doesn't do any harm. BilledMammal (talk) 14:57, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
- I have no objection to a redirect. I just know we do not need this as an article.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:23, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
Ah! The latest JPL copy-and-paste. Isn't that what StickyWicket mentioned at the ANI? If memory serves me correctly over the space of five minutes, I think that's precisely what you said at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Raúl Antoli. The answer to it is the same. Why didn't you use the word Redirect to commence your reason for XFD? NGS Shakin' All Over 19:31, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
I've specified France at the 1928 Summer Olympics#Rowing as redirect target above. I agree with BM that it's more appropriate, but happy enough either way as long as it is a redirect. NGS Shakin' All Over 19:37, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
