Butterbur is a minor character in The Lord of the Rings. His main function in the plot is forgetting to deliver a letter. His part in the story is adequately explained in The Fellowship of the Ring and The Return of the King. There is further information about him at Bree (Middle-earth) and Minor places in Middle-earth#The Prancing Pony. Yes, the article does give some information about his name, but, given that he is a minor character, this is trivial. There is no reason for this article to exist. - Merge a small amount of information into Bree (Middle-earth) The character owned an inn in the fictional village of Bree. ―Susmuffin Talk 18:56, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- Note: I have moved information about the inn from "Minor places" to the "Bree" article.--Jack Upland (talk) 06:59, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- Delete. Fails NFICTION/GNG. Too minor to have his own article. Possible soft delete by redirect to some list of LoTR characters, but I am questioning the value of list of minor stuff that will eventually get axed anyway. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:03, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- I think he can be covered by the Bree (Middle-earth) article, which describes his inn. We really don't need an article about him.--Jack Upland (talk) 09:20, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- Goustien, that list is a list of articles. I don't see how we can redirect there.--Jack Upland (talk) 00:51, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- Redirect to Bree (Middle-earth) where the character is already mentioned. Aoba47 (talk) 17:25, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
