The result was keep. Consensus to keep for now. It may be more obvious later whether it meets WP:NEVENT. (non-admin closure) (t · c) buidhe 00:22, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

- This article may violate the don't rush to create articles part of WP:NEVENT, but this second fatal gang rape in Uttar Pradesh in recent days is generating public outcry in its own right,[1] on top of national outrage over the first rape. It's too early to tell whether it should get a stand-alone article. • Gene93k (talk) 22:36, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
- Delete as WP:NOTNEWS, this article is way too soon as to whether this is/will become wikinotable. Coolabahapple (talk) 04:05, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
- Comment Please do not remove it now, help you improve and I have created this article with reliable source that is not essay. Taukeerppw (talk) 05:28, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
- The concern is not that it an essay or that it lacks reliable sources. The concern is whether the crime has WP:LASTING effects and interest beyond the news cycle, making it more than just a breaking news story. The Balrampur gang rape sits in the shadow of the Hathras gang rape. It is too soon to tell if this second rape will get lasting attention in its own right. • Gene93k (talk) 22:38, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

- Keep, as there is no way to tell if this will have WP:LASTING effects, but given the outcry as a result of the event it seems to have a good chance of doing so. As so, I reckon it should be kept for now. Devonian Wombat (talk) 02:42, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
