The result was redirect to List_of_The_X_Factor_finalists_(UK_series_5)#Alexandra_Burke with no predudice against reversion if there's a consensus for it (non-admin closure) Ron Ritzman (talk) 00:33, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Alexandra Burke[edit]
- Alexandra Burke (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) (delete) – (View log)
Finalists in reality shows are not generally considered notable until they have done something outside the show. However, Burke's case is not as clear-cut, as she has now taken part in two series. However, I still feel that she is not, at this time, notable enough to warrant an article. J Milburn (talk) 15:34, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Weak keep for being on two seasons of a major TV series, as well as singing a UK #1 single (in collaboration with 11 other people, but still...) Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 16:00, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Alexandra is hot fave to win at the bookies and is most likely to win, making her very notable and most likely have a second number-one single. The final 3 usually get recording contracts anyway which means she will become a professional singer. So whats the point of deleting my hard work to make a really good and well organized wikipage to have it come back on in a few months time? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Codywarren08 (talk • contribs) 16:28, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- If she wins, or if she gets herself a recording contract, I support an article. Until then, there should not be one. If the article is deleted, it can easily be restored if she becomes notable. Please note that Wikipedia is not a crystal ball- we do not have articles on people who will become notable. If you believe that she is notable, you're going to have to demonstrate that she is notable now. J Milburn (talk) 16:48, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Yeah, but come on, we're talking less than a week here. It's not often I'll defend an article as harmless, but there's no damage in waiting 5 more days until the finale airs. The article also has its greatest informational value at this point, as surely people will be looking her up over the next few days, as there's plenty of press coverage. - There is already List_of_The_X_Factor_finalists_(UK_series_5)#Alexandra_Burke, and this page used to redirect to it. Ros0709 (talk) 19:47, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Redirect to List of The X Factor finalists (UK series 5) per WP:MUSIC. Dalejenkins | 17:40, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Speedy revert to redirect, to List_of_The_X_Factor_finalists_(UK_series_5)#Alexandra_Burke. If she wins or otherwise gains independent notability, then - and only then - will a separate article be warranted - WP:BIO1E. Ros0709 (talk) 19:47, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep for now. Article may be premature, but so too is this AfD. In just five days we'll know who wins the show, and then we'll be in a much better position to say whether or not she is notable. Might as well wait until then. PC78 (talk) 01:39, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep: Revisit the idea of deletion in six months though, she might take the typical "post X-Factor" journey into obscurity/suicide ;) Ryan4314 (talk) 05:45, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Speedy reinstate the redirect. If she doesn't end up notable, we don't need to take any further action. If she does undoing a redirect is much easier than requesting undeletion. (By the way, based on George Sampson winning of BGT, I'd say running through a show the second time could give her a good chance...) - Mgm|(talk) 10:05, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep for now. I think tht this page may as well stay because at the moment it looks likely that her notablitity will increase very soon anyway. If she fails to win the X Factor or at least not come runner up, then delete. At the moment there is no reason to delete this piece when it might end up being meaningful very soon anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kyleofark (talk • contribs) 15:22, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong Keep. In terms of column inches, this lady far exceeds the criteria to keep. She is notable, sadly, especially if we insist on keeping articles relating to non-notable wrestlers and some such. Brooklyn Brawler, I am looking at you -me_mi_mo (me_mi_mo)
