The result was keep. Doesn't appear to be a hoax Firsfron of Ronchester 05:42, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A very well-written hoax, but a hoax nonetheless. This phrase does result in quite a number of Ghits, but if you really look at them, you'll discover that they're all either Wikipedia mirrors or other wiki mirrors. In addition, all the sources are apparently from books, but I can find absolutely no Google Books hits about the subject. - Delete After reading the article's talk page, I believe that it is very likely that this article is an elaborate, well written and well-constructed hoax. I am not by any means an expert on the 1973 war between Egypt and Israel. I will change my recommendation to "keep" if independent reliable sources are furnished that support the general outlines of this article's content. Cullen328 (talk) 03:53, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Here's an independent source from a respected publisher [1]. If the battle is a hoax, that should be pointed out in the article using reliable sources, not used as a reason for deletion. --Sherif9282 (talk) 09:11, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep per this article in Al Ahram and this article: Egypt Claims 23 Israeli Planes Shot Down. Cairo Radio reported a series of air battles over Egypt and Sinai throughout the day. Communique 30 at 19.37 said there had been air battles over Mansoura Airport, the northern Delta area... There seems to be some dispute between Egypt and Israel about what happened that day, but that Egypt at least claims to have defeated Israel in an air battle is verifiable. - Keep It's a poor article, one-sided and relying on a few poor sources while ignoring numerous sources which paint a more detailed and nuanced account of the events of October 14. It needs some serious attention but deleting it as a hoax would be unfair to the contributers who edited this article in good faith. Poliocretes (talk) 07:28, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep: I'm a bit divided, but it seems that there was an air battle over Mansoura on October 14, 1973. While there are very legitimate concerns about accuracy, I think there are enough sources to say with confidence that a battle did occur and was notable (can't verify that the books say what is cited, but Worldcat proves they exist, and I'll lend good faith to that). The number of IAF losses does seem to be exaggerated (which is understandable, since they aren't going to admit it and the Egyptian sources are going to make it sound the best they can), but it seems like everything else is more or less plausible or proven by a good source. bahamut0013wordsdeeds 14:33, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- news article at the time. Something was going on. What part of this story is supposed to be a hoax? Snakeswithfeet (talk) 16:23, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- That article must be for a different incident. Our article is about an air battle on the 14th. Your article desribes an attack that occurred before the issue date of the 10th. Presumably there were several incidents at this airfield during the war. --JGGardiner (talk) 21:32, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
