In 2005, Matthew began serving organizations as an independent consultant providing strategic direction and management of development initiatives as part of an integrated approach to business operations. Management Practices[edit]Matthew believes "Success doesn’t lie in the rules, policies, procedures and textbooks on management. Success comes when a group of people are aligned with a unified vision and mission and work together as one team. My intention is to unleash people into their fullest expression of vision and commitment. Our commitment is to transform the quality of individual and organizational life." Early Career[edit]Matthew began his marketing career early in life. At age sixteen, Ennis became the youngest public health official in Missouri history. Serving as the Public Relations/Health Education Coordinator and Grants and Contracts Manager, he acted as public relations counsel and primary spokesperson for the Dade County Health Department. Matthew managed all aspects of fund raising development and strategic planning for public relations, communication, health education and outreach programs. In addition, Matthew led the department’s media and government relations, implementing crisis management programs as needed and supervised the production of marketing collateral and public health outreach campaigns. Following the death of his father, Selman (Shorty) Ennis, on January 12, 2000, due to complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Matthew quickly began working to increase youth awareness speaking out against the ill effects caused by smoking and tobacco use. He also served as chief counselor to the organizations Executive Director and twenty-three member Board of Directors on matters related to fundraising development policies and procedures and external media relations, with an unwavering commitment to maintain a year-round development program demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. Prior to joining the Springfield Symphony’s staff, Matthew served organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Harley-Davidson, March of Dimes, the Southwest Missouri Humane Society, and the Special Olympics Missouri. 40 Under 40[edit]Named to the prestigious Springfield Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list in April 2006, Matthew became the youngest individual to be recognized in the history of the journal’s special publication. The Springfield Business Journal’s annual 40 Under 40 publication provides photographs and profiles of 40 new honorees each year - outstanding individuals in the community and in their professions, all under the age of 40. The song was popularised by Greek singers Sofia Vembo and Giannis Gounaris The greek lyrics are as follows:

They are running like mad around the rocks and they are being kicked by us and the Allies and without much talking, Greek Evzoni entere Koritsa In Argirokastron entered the khaki-clad and now there waves the Greek flag Ciano, I will kill myself, Ciano in a bit I will also lose Tirana.
With a smile in their lips go forth our troops and the Italians have been ridiculed because their heart is weak Laughing-stock Mussolini, none of yours will stay [alive] you and your ridiculous country, Italy, are afraid of the khaki-clad. You have no honour at all, and when we arrive there, even in Rome we will raise the blue-white Greek flag. It's raining and underneath the tent they can't take even a step forward and they say in their announcements "it is all the weather's fault". Qualchan (d. September 24, 1858) was a 19th century Yakima chieftain who participated in the Yakima War with his uncle Kamiakin and other chieftains. Shortly after the Walla Walla council in 1855, in which Yakima leaders warned the United States against further settlement of the area, Qualchan and five others killed six settlers on the Yakima River. On September 23, U.S. Indian Agent A.J. Bolon was murdered by a band of Yakima while traveling along The Dalles to discuss the incident with Kamiakin. Qualchan was accused of leading the group which attacked him although historians such as A.J. Splawn insist Bolon's murder was carried out by Me-cheil, a brother of Kamiakin. [2] Becoming a wanted fugitive by U.S. authorities, he and his father Owhi participated in guerilla warfare against the US Army for over three years. Qualchan would frequently attack prosepecters, miners and others and selling their supplies to The Dalles and other settlements in exchange for weapons and calicoes. [3] In mid-March 1856, he and Chief Leschi led an attack against Connell's Prairie but were driven back by militiamen under Gilmore Hays. [4] According to Assistant Adjuntant General W.W. Mackall, "Kamiakin and Qualchan, cannot longer be permitted to remain at large or in the country, they must be surrendered or driven away, and no accomidation should be ade with any who will harbor them; let all know that asylum given to either of these troublesome Indians, will be considered in future as evidence of a hostile intention on the part of the tribe". in a letter addressed to the Department of the Pacific at Fort Vancouver on June 18, 1858. [5] Following the Horse Camp Slaughter, his father visited Colonel George Wright at his camp on Latah Creek with the intention to negotiate peace. During this meeting, he was apparently coerced into disclosing the location of his son's camp whereapon he was siezed and put in irons. Wright then sent a message to Qualchan's camp threatening to hang his father in four days if he did not surrender. What happened after this point is unclear, however Qualchan did eventually arrive at Wright's encampment. There are conflicting accounts that he rode into camp alone, that he was with his father at the time of the his capture, [6] or that he was accompanied by his wife Whist-alks and brother Lo-Kout. The latter account claims he was captured in a brief gun battle while his wife and brother managed to escape. [7] [8] It has been speculated that Qualchan may have been unaware that his father had been taken prisoner and instead had been sent by Kamiakin to determine from Wright the treatment the Yakima would receive if they surrendered. The only record of the meeting exists in a report made by Colonel Wright who wrote "Qualchan came to see me at 9 o'clock, at 9:15 he was hung". His father was shot several days later attempting to escape from the camp. [9] [10] Latah Creek was known for several years as Hangman Creek as a result of Qualchan's execution, however an act from the Oregon state legislature changed the name back to Latah Creek. [11] A popular golf course was built in the area where he was hanged and named in his honor. He is featured in a short story by author Sherman Alexie. References[edit]

1. Brief History 1.1 Conception and Inception in Nigeria MTech was established at the dawn of the GSM era to provide Value-Added to complement the traditional GSM telephony system, which was also in the birthing in Nigeria. It was incorporated on May 17, 2001 as a limited liability company. The company by providing a WAP-based service called M-Life. The service was exclusive to subscribers the MTN largely due to the capacity of the network to support WAP over CSD. At this time, most of the subscribers used without phones without WAP capability, which caused the service to slow to a gradual halt. However, MTech moved to provide SMS-based content services to the 2 existing GSM networks at the time, MTN and Econet Wireless (which is now wholly owned by Celtel, part of the Zain network). In due course, subscribers moved to phones with the capacity to compose choice ringtones. This gave rise and aided the crave for ringtones and saw MTech providing such in the almost obsolete HEX format. In 2003, MTech’s presence and superior service delivery saw it emerge as one of the content providers of SIM-based services to Glo Mobile, the third mobile operator and Second National Carrier. Subsequently, MTech was selected by M-Tel, the mobile arm of the incumbent fixed telco, NITEL, as the sole technical/content service provider for its VAS offering. 1.2 International Expansion In January 2006, MTech secured the rights to provide mobile audio visual contents of the FIFA World Cup competition, Germany 2006, across Sub-Saharan Africa. This development saw the company wooing mobile operators in other countries to provide these contents to their subscribers. This may not have achieved the runaway success it intended but definitely opened the way for its international expansion. Due to the success of securing a deal with MTN Cote d’Ivoire to provide the AFCON contents to its subscribers, MTech opened its first foreign outpost at Abidjan. Shortly afterwards, MTech secured proprietary rights to develop and broadcast the second TV game show in Nigeria from its UK owners called The Mint Africa (TMA). For many months, MTech ran the operations of TMA from the UK allowing it to open its second foreign outpost in London, UK. Following proper feasibility studies and the promise existent in the emerging markets, MTech decisively moved to Kenya, Uganda and Ghana in September 2006. It also relocated UK operations to Nigeria and expanded its Ivorian outpost to become fully operational. Today, MTech provides offshore services to mobile networks in the Republic of Benin, Botswana and Iran. Recently, it announced plans to expand its eastern and western African operations to include Tanzania and Senegal, respectively. Alongside the expansion, it plans to open major operations in northern Africa and the Middle East to include Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Pakistan and Iran, where it already has some presence. Furthermore, it plans to move to the Americas operating in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. 2. Brand, Business, Clientele, Partnership and Subsidiaries 2.1 Brand, Logo and the Lingo The MTech brand has become very visible in the minds of many. Having been initially identified as a technological company (which it still strongly is), its subsequent diversification into entertainment, sports, financial and sundry services has seen the brand metamorphose into an international and respectable brand. The logo is simple in appearance and yet depicts a towering authority in the business. Once the MD of the company had said to a reporter, who wanted to know the meaning of the ‘M’ in MTech, that M means Mobile to some people and to the industry as a whole, it means Movement. Today, MTech has set the trend for the entire mobile VAS industry and continues to do so. MTech has maintained the promise in its original lingo “Mpowering the mobile generation,” which has now become a part and parcel of its logo. However, following and internal response to a recent press release, the company has adopted a new lingo “…to be the leading mobile interactivity provider in emerging markets.” Even more recently, during it first international retreat in Lagos in November 2007, MTech adopted a new but subtle lingo in its renewed spirit of becoming the world leaders in mobile VAS; “MTech Worldwide.” 2.2 Business 2.2.1 Past and Current Business. From the inception of MTech, product and service initiatives have originated from three main sources; internal developments, requests from network operators and proposals from non-network operators, some of which have become partners. The organizational structure of MTech is such that is essentially customer-focused and market-founded. This model identifies and addresses the limitless needs of subscribers in the rapidly dynamic and diverse business and consumer environment of telecommunications. The MTech Group is structured in accordance with its business lines/support functions in the head office, and its international operations. MTech Nigeria serves as headquarters and technical support base for the MTech group providing technical, management and part human resources for the foreign operations. MTech Group has the following distinct business lines: Operator Branded Services: These are bespoke services created for and exclusively branded by the Network operator. MTN – MTN Funtones, MTN Caller Tunez (Ring Back Tone service), MTN SIM-based content service, MTN Loaded portal. Celtel – Suite of SMS information services branded C-Services. Globacom – Glo Magic Plus, Glo Caller Tunes(RBT service) MultiLinks – SMS information services. Starcomms – Startunes (RBT service); End to End content provisioning for Starcomms RBT deployment. Information Services – General provision of content for information services which include; local, business, entertainment and sports news. Other categories are jokes, horoscopes etc. Private Branded Services: These are MTech owned services and represent a new area targeted for considerable growth in 2008. The major services include: • Vibe downloads This is a suite of hippie information and content services – www.vibedownloads.com. Services available on Vibe include; SMS information services, multimedia based services and seasonal competitions. • Media Interactivity MTech has developed mobile media packages for television and radio broadcast organizations, working with them to develop mobile-based initiatives that are integrated with existing programming. Some examples include: o Cool Mobile This is a suite of mobile value added services provided by MTech but branded by Cool FM. This service provides a differentiating element for Cool FM and offers an extra interactivity to Cool FM listeners. o Cosmo Mobile This is a suite of mobile value added services customized to suit the local need of Eastern Nigeria. Cosmo mobile services are targeted at listeners of the station in other to differentiate them. o Sun Mobile This is a suite of very dynamic content services but branded by The Sun Newspapers, Nigeria. It serves as a differentiating factor between the sun and its counterparts. Current reports show that the interactivity element has boosted the circulation and readership.
Following the emergence of new technologies to enhance existing ones, interactive advertising has gained MTech’s focus such that it has been firmly integrated with the future of its VAS offerings to clients and partners, even outside the telecoms industry. The endless capability of SMS, MMS and IVR with new technological insights provides the threshold for the future of VAS. The recent announcement of 3G services by mobile operators in Nigeria further strengthens this focus, particularly in the realm of convergence: fixed, mobile and internet – all in one. To fully understand and maximise this new business, MTech set up its digital and interactive marketing and advertising arm. 2.3 Clientele MTech’s primary clients are network operators in each of the markets where it is present. Following the rising need of subscribers, industries and institutions and the supporting technologies, the current clientele is as mishmash of brands and institutions, sometimes competing for that edge available, only through the delivery of new value-added services. Some of the clients include Pepsi, Coca-Cola Nigeria, Gulder, Star Lager Beer, First Bank, Zenith International Bank, Pension Alliance, Virgin Nigeria, CAP PLC, Nokia etc. 2.4 Partnerships and Subsidiaries Generally, most of MTech’s clients are viewed essentially as partners. It is with this in mind that most of the non-operator businesses are developed with a view to keeping them as life clients, and eventual partners. Some of the partners include MTN Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana; Celtel Nigeria; tiGO Ghana; Safaricom Kenya; Zenith Bank Nigeria; Orange Cote d’Ivoire and Botswana etc. MTech set up a joint venture with one of its partners, Optima Sports Management International, CellCast, to provide interactive sports content via SMS, MMS and IVR. To mobile subscribers across sub-Saharan Africa. CellCast won the mobile rights of the English Premiership in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa for three years effective 2007. This 50:50 joint venture is run as a limited liability company specifically formed to manage the execution of the mobile rights. The English Premiership is watched by over 700million people worldwide, and has estimated viewership of 400million in Africa. CELLCAST executes the mobile rights in licensed countries by providing exclusive mobile content from the English Premiership, which includes SMS, Video and Voice based updates and information. This is currently being served in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Uganda. Other countries are in the process of being rolled out. OSMi Sports Management International – OSMi is a leading International Sports Marketing and broadcast Company with major operations on the African Continent. OSMi has experience with 2004 Nations Cup, UEFA Champions League and is currently the broadcast rights holder for FIFA properties across Sub-Saharan Africa. Shout Interactive Shout Interactive, a wholly owned subsidiary of MTech, is an integrated digital marketing communications company with a mission to keep clients ahead of competition through an expressive understanding of our client businesses, their brands and business objectives. 3.1 Local and International Competition There are several other registered establishments in Nigeria providing VAS to the telecoms industry. Some these firms are GTS Infotel, iTouch, Alpha Technologies, Vas2Nets, 3Way Communications, A3&O, MyMobile, MobileXcetera, iConcepts, Cellulant and Tavia Technologies. Most of the companies pose clear and present competition to MTech’s dominance on a good number of fronts. GTS Infotel, 3WC, Cellulant and iTouch are equally international and present in some of MTech’s new markets. Although going through an acquisition phase by Buongiorno to become the largest VAS firm in the world, iTouch is heavily present in Nigeria. Most of MTech’s services are currently delivered in English. And by virtue of its Ivorian and Beninese strengths, the services are scalable to French. GTS Infotel is predominantly French and operating in an Anglophone market. In Cote d’Ivoire (and Senegal), they are competitors with MTech. On the technological scene, Tavia Technologies poses another effective competition. Recently, it launched a musical service that allows subscribers to download songs, both audio and video, over the internet and pay with the popular payment cards and the only Nigerian electronic payment switching platform enabling the use of the entire debit cards issues locally. Grosso modo, each of MTech’c foreign operations are faced with respective competitions local to them. 3.2 Copyrights and Propriety Issues In providing foreign content particularly music; audio and video, MTech has had through murky waters with the collection agencies in Nigeria. Recently, the Musical Copyrights Society of Nigeria threatened to sue MTech alongside some of its partners and clients for the continuous infringement on certain works. The Performing Musicians Rights’ Society has also alleged the wrongful use of some the musical works to which it claims exclusive rights over. 3.3 Challenges Doing business successfully in Nigeria comes with a lot challenges from policy issues to stable power supply. Particularly in the VAS sub-industry, the business model employed by most of the network operations is in clear disfavour to their services providers. Along with the very unfavourable business climate, delays in settlements by the networks further hamper an already difficult situation. Often times, these delays are cited in MTech’s defence against allegations of infringements and underperformance of not living up to its lingo, “…to be the leading mobile interactivity provider in emerging markets.” In fairness to MTech, the three active GSM networks contribute in no small measure to the challenges faced by MTech. The networks are heavily suspected to have exceeded their capacities by vicious margins. Recently, the telecoms regulatory body, the Nigerian Communications Commission, banned all promotions and incentives enticing subscribers to carry out otherwise unnecessary mobile activities. This was to prevent further network complications. Consequently, the technical incapability of these networks contributes immensely to the poor delivery of value-added services. However, the network downtimes would not account entirely for the failed projects that MTech had attempted to float notably M-Life and The Mint Africa, which have both been decommissioned. 4. Special Achievements MTech is still the leading African mobile VAS provider. It prides itself as the flagship in the business. Some of its successful projects, products and services are listed below: • Launch of the first WAP service in Nigeria (MTN Nigeria) • Launch of the first Ringtone and content download service (MTN Nigeria) • Implementation of the first live SMS-TV services on NTA Network (Nigerian Television) for 2004 Nations Cup. • Implementation of live SMS-TV service on Music Africa on Silverbird TV • Launch of Magic Plus service for Glo mobile which includes ringtones and entertainment hotspot information. • Launch of ringtones and entertainment services on VMobile • Design of mobile entertainment services for MTel • Powered SMS Interactive Platform for StarQuest reality talent show • Launched the first WAP service in Nigeria including provision and management of WAP Gateway and development and hosting of the WAP portal including MTN Nigeria). • Launched the first ring tone service in Nigeria (MTN Nigeria). • Launched the first IVR-based Information on Demand service in Nigeria (MTN Download). • Run several interactive SMS-based games (for British American Tobacco and Sosoliso Airlines). • Run white-label information on Demand services for MTN, Vmobile and Glo Mobile. • Run Cool Mobile entertainment service in partnership with Cool FM • Provided MMS content for MTN and Glo Mobile Nigeria • Developed mobile banking applications for Citizen’s Bank and Ecobank • Run live SMS-TV for Nations Cup and Euro 2004 football tournaments. • Nations Cup 2004 predict-and-win competition. • African 2006 World Cup qualifiers match competition with OSMI • Developed SMS Information services for Virgin Nigeria • Run mobile marketing initiatives for British American Tobacco, Sosoliso Airlines etc. • Deployed OTA platform for MTel Nigeria. • MOBO Award ‘Best African Act’ nominations category voting's. • Star Mega Jam voting for Nigerian Breweries PLC • First Live SMS-TV in Nigeria for 2004 for Nations Cup on NTA network (NTA, OSMI) • Live SMS-TV service for Euro 2004 • Live SMS-TV service on Dove Media • Flight information service for Virgin Nigeria • Set up Mtel’s “Girl in Athens” IVR platform for the coverage of the 2004 Olympic games • Run SMS voting for the Best African Act” category for MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards • Partnership with Osmi to run competitions & SMS Broadcast for the 2006 World Cup • Run SMS donation for “Africa for USA”- relief & aid for victims of Hurricane Katrina • The first mobile internet service in Nigeria (MTN) • First ringtone service in Nigeria (MTN). • Launched the first GSM Information on Demand service in Nigeria (MTN). • Implemented mobile banking and airtime vending solutions (Citizens, Ecobank) • Content providers for Glo Magic Plus Services and Vmobile V-Active Services (Glo, Vmobile). • Run interactive marketing campaigns for various clients including British American Tobacco and Sosoliso Airlines. • Design of mobile-based management system for Micro-Finance Institutions(Ford Foundation). Science and Art Collaborations[edit]Creative and scientific collaborations involve research that draws on combined fields. Collaborations in contemporary art and new science have at their root a long and short history. Interdisciplinary foci at the university and individual level dates to pre-Renaissance integration of fields, and further to early Greek philosophical treatises that examine art as science (Aristotle’s Poetics for example), or science as a observation (the scientific method). Artists’ collaborations with industry were jumpstarted with the series of projects entitled E.A.T. (Experiemtns in Art and Technology), begun in 1966 and involving such artists as Robert Rauschenberg and Robert Whitman. Such collaborations often serve to either advance or debunk science. Creative collaborations intended to debunk science are sometimes labeled as pseudoscience. Science and Art Institutions[edit]Marcel (Multimedia Art Research Centres and Electronic Laboratories) is an Internet portal to interdisciplinary endeavors, including research and activities in Art and Science. ASCI (Art & Science Collaborations, Inc.), based out of London, acts as a multi-layered portal into art and science activities of individuals and groups. ASCI also partners with other organizations to promote and organize events in the combined fields of science and art. The Leonardo Journal is a print and online magazine focused on scholarly endeavors at the intersection of art, science and technology. Leonardo is host to several creative and mindful symposia and festivals around the world. Additional art consortiums for collaborations in science and art include the Daniel Langlois Foundation in Canada, the Scientific and Research Center of the Slovenian Academy of Science and Art in Ljubljana, Resqualia, the Yasmin Network based in Athens, and CIANT in Prague. The Museum of Jurassic Technology in Los Angeles, along with skewed natural history exhibitions at prominent institutions the world over, is home to a series of pseudoscientific exhibitions. Science and Art Creative Groups[edit]The League of Imaginary Scientists, an international collective of artists, scientists, and technologists, has exhibited art and science experiments in international venues and festivals. The League’s works of imaginary science were featured at Colombia’s celebration of the World Year of Physics in Bogotá in 2005. The League’s solution to global warming, entitled “Really Real Estate,” was unveiled at the Mutamorphosis conference in Prague in 2007. Bioteknica is a collaborative art and science organization that embeds creative and scientific processes into a corporate structure. Bioteknica presents their work as installations, an example of which included an autopsy table at the Break 2.3 Festival in Slovenia in 2004. WDCV is the voice of Dickinson College. It broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week on 88.3 FM or also online at their website. Most notable for playing under-represented music, public affairs, and Dickinson College sports. Also there seems to be a high amount of bluegrass played on the air in the mornings. This might be due to the over abundance of pre-recorded shows with a bluegrass bias. Sources[edit]64.9.61.230 (talk) 21:12, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
