The Arbitration Committee elections are run by the English Wikipedia community. This page lists all of the volunteer staff and their duties. If you have a question or a concern about the election, please notify us on the talk page.

Election volunteer guideline[edit]

While coordinators have as much right to participate in ordinary voter activity during the election as all other eligible voters (i.e. voting, asking questions, discussing candidates), election volunteers should avoid acting in a way that might cast doubt on their ability to act impartially, or on the perceived neutrality of the coordinators or elections as a whole.

Election volunteers[edit]

Electoral Commission[edit]

The Electoral Commission is a three-member panel with a mandate to solve disputes and make decisions on unexpected problems. The Electoral Comission is appointed by Jimbo Wales after community input via a Request for comment.

Scrutineers[edit]

Scrutineers have technical access to the SecurePoll system allowing them to check the validity of cast ballots, and certify the final results. Scrutineers are drawn from Stewards who do not edit the English Wikipedia as their primary wiki.

  1. Am I eligible to volunteer?
Any editor in good standing (not currently blocked) is welcome to volunteer as a coordinator; you do not have to be an administrator to join.
  2. Is it too late to volunteer?
No, there is no cut-off date for volunteering.
  3. What needs to be done?
See the #To do list and the #Election Tasks per Candidate sections below for a list of current tasks, or go to the talk page for more general direction. Thanks for your interest.

To do list[edit]

SecurePoll[edit]

Set up the SecurePoll interface for the 2013 ArbCom elections. Documentaion is at wikitech:SecurePoll and a little at mw:Extension:SecurePoll. Please note that T56985 has been set up for this. In order to give advanced notice, I'm pinging @Philippe (WMF): and also @Jalexander: and @Okeyes (WMF): who have helped in the past. 64.40.54.186 (talk) 04:02, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think it would be a very good idea to have one person take responsibility regarding liaising with the WMF on the poll setup. The role can be transferred to the commission if they want it once its setup, but to avoid a repeat of last year, having one person who knows they need to take care of it would be prudent. Any volunteers? Monty845 16:32, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've left a note at User talk:Philippe (WMF)#Secure Poll for upcoming ArbCom elections to help get things moving. 64.40.54.112 (talk) 03:42, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Update Reedy (talk · contribs) has been assigned to T56985 and Happy-melon (talk · contribs) will take care of things for the Electoral Commission as he's done for the past several years. My apologies to Greg (WMF) (talk · contribs) for not including him on the ping list above. I was going to as I knew he helped with the Board elections this summer, but decided not to at the last minute. That's my fault. Sorry. Just want to say thanks everybody for your help and support. 64.40.54.82 (talk) 06:07, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pages needed[edit]

  • If somebody creates the following blank pages, I will fill them in with the required information properly attributed to those who originally created them.
Created, but blank. Monty845 17:24, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've updtated the docs. 64.40.54.185 (talk) 00:26, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Updated to have last year's format. This can be changed as needed. 64.40.54.185 (talk) 23:34, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Created, but blank. Monty845 17:24, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've updated it with last year's instructions and modified year, links, etc. Please take a look if you have a chance. 64.40.54.185 (talk) 23:13, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Created, but blank. Monty845 17:24, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Or somebody can create the pages and fill them in if they want to do all the work. 64.40.54.186 (talk) 04:25, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Preferably the randomized order should be set up in Lua this time, so it isn't as messy as it was last year. --Rschen7754 04:34, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. I've made a request at Wikipedia:Lua requests/Archive 3#Randomize ArbCom election guides to see if somebody can get to this. Thanks. 64.40.54.186 (talk) 04:59, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much, Od Mishehu. Could you also change [[Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee Elections December 2012/Feedback#Voters|here]] to also be updated with [[Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee Elections December {{CURRENTYEAR}}/Feedback#Voters|here]] if you think it's approriate? Currently it points to the 2012 feedback page. Thanks for the help. 64.40.54.77 (talk) 02:52, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
 Done that too. Monty845 03:24, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Monty. 64.40.54.125 (talk) 04:36, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done by Od Mishehu (talk · contribs). Thanks. 64.40.54.139 (talk) 22:15, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Other[edit]

I've left a note at m:SN#Stewards needed for the enwp ArbCom elections since I couldn't find any other request. 64.40.54.185 (talk) 23:17, 2 November 2013 (UTC) For disclosure purposes, I am noting that I have a dynamic IP. All comments on these ArbCom election pages from 64.40.5*.* are from me. Please note the comments on the 2012 ArbCom election pages from 64.40.5*.* are also from me. My contribs can be seen here. Cheers. 64.40.54.185 (talk) 01:04, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

EC candidates ID to WMF[edit]

The nomination period of Electoral Commission candidates has now past. The following is a list of candidates and their ID status to the Foundation.

The ACE RfC states the Electoral Commission should be in place before ArbCom nominations start on 00:01 (UTC), Sunday, 10 November. Does that mean the candidates need to be identified to the Foundation before that or can it be after? 64.40.54.112 (talk) 03:16, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Updated to show that Guy Macon (talk · contribs) has identified a few days ago. 64.40.54.211 (talk) 03:39, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Added GiantSnowman's link to the identification Noticeboard. Added by Philippe a few moments ago. John F. Lewis (talk) 19:05, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, John. 64.40.54.125 (talk) 04:36, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notifications[edit]

As we're running behind schedule a bit, I decided to do the notifications. I left messages at WP:VPP, WP:VPM, WT:AC and WP:AN. I've also left a note at MediaWiki talk:Watchlist-details for a watchlist notice per WP:ACERFC. Could somebody please add a note to {{CENT}} as that page is semi'd and I can't edit it. Thanks. 64.40.54.211 (talk) 07:24, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

MediaWiki talk:Watchlist-details is done as is {{CENT}}. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 09:43, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
WP:AC/N usually gets one too. --Rschen7754 10:08, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Callanecc. I was going to leave a note at AC/N when I did the others, but it was semi'd so I skipped it. I figured people running would see one of the other messages. But we should probably place a note there when voting starts. Thanks. 64.40.54.210 (talk) 03:57, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Voter eligibility[edit]

Do we still use tools:~pathoschild/accounteligibility/ to check voter eligibility? It doesn't look like it was used for the Board elections last summer. If it is still used, we probably need to leave a message for m:User talk:Pathoschild to have it updated for the elections. Thanks. 64.40.54.210 (talk) 06:15, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

SecurePoll does this automatically... or it is supposed to, anyway. --Rschen7754 04:35, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thanks, Rschen. Striking. 64.40.54.99 (talk) 05:02, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
