Coaching requests[edit]

Current requests[edit]

Requests older than around 6 weeks without indication of current interest, may be moved to "older requests" by any editor. If you are still interested, please append to your request a note that the request is still active and the current date, and move it back to this section in date order.

Please read the basic checklist (above) first, and then if you'd benefit from coaching, add new requests to the end of this section. Older requests - we need to know if you are still interested. If you are, copy/paste --''still interested as of ~~~~'' after your name.

  1. Bože pravde (talk · contribs) Being an admin is something I considered a long time ago, but gave the idea up because I thought that I could contribute more by just writing and editing articles. Now I realize that being an admin would not prevent me from doing that, but make things easier and more helpful. 2. Zidel333 (talk · contribs) Working on being more active, especially in AfD, Recent Changes, New Pages, the Help Desk, the References Desks, and, of course, article creation and editing. Would appreciate an Admin to help me become a better contributor, and allow for greater understanding and usage of the minutae of Policy, guidelines, and essays. 3. Valadius (talk · contribs) I've been active for quite a long time, especially in creating/maintaining/upgrading articles regarding American politics. I have made over 3,000 edits. I wish to broaden my understanding of all that Wikipedia offers, and I think I would make a decent admin. Valadius 03:11, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Sjones23 (talk · contribs) I've been active since December 2006, especially in working on Japanese seiyu. I have made many edits. 7. Vox Humana 8' (talk · contribs) I am interested in becoming an admin eventually. I have already had some guidance from an admin through MSN Messenger, but would like proper coaching. I have been using both this account and User:Voxpuppet (the latter in a parallel second browser, as Firefox doesn't like Twinkle) to fight vandalism using the Recent Changes log and Twinkle with all add-ons and have been contributing slowly but surely. However, the Wikipedia Community is unlikely to have much faith in me, as I have in the past made myself a pain in the proverbial for some of them: I would like to put all that behind me and make myself an invaluable contributor in my own right. 8. Danielfolsom (talk · contribs) While most of this info can be found on my userpage - I'll say some here. My biggest contributions probably come in the areas of speedy deletions (I go to the category and try and clean up what I can),minor edits to articles, vandal fighting (more-so in my earlier contribs but still some now), template space, and I'll chip in on talk pages a bit also. I think my weakest areas that I'm looking to improve are AfD voting - I used to be more involved with this but I essentially moved to different tasks, I'd like to come back to it, and dispute resolution - while I can sometimes resolve a dispute by participating in it and trying to reach compromise - I am not the best at this, and sometimes I let things go to extremes. danielfolsom 03:25, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  14. Wiki Raja (talk · contribs) I have been editing Wikipedia since almost a year now and contributing to numerous articles specifically on South Asia with over 5000 mainspace edits. Furthermore, I have created a WikiProject group called Dravidian civlizations to help improve articles in this area of interest amongst other WikiProjects I plan to start in the future. My goal is to learn more about Wikipedia to improve its contents and in assisting new users. 23. Jaakobou (talk · contribs) i've been involved a bit too much with "murky water" articles but i believe my standards for replying and dealing with issues have developed immensly. on the black list: i'm thinking that currently there's a list of users who'd go crazy if they hear i want to be an admin, and also i got a small incident or two that don't look great on my logs (albeit i'm contacting someone to discuss this). on the up side: i could help resolve disputes here and there and help out with admin related activity - i'm this will help me learn some of the process and develop me as a better contributor and perhaps even an admin if things go well. p.s. it would be best to email me so not to arouse the fury of the people who are watching my page. 31. Rodhullandemu (talk · contribs) Well, I've only been editing for a couple of months and in many ways still learning as I go. I've been using NPW for a few weeks and have taken the trouble to advise editors how they can improve their pages, using the policy guidelines & referring when appropriate. I do read through the RFAs, AIVs, ANIs, etc to keep up with what is going on. I revert vandalism whenever I see it. I am a bit of a WikiGnome & correct infelicitous and barbaric language when I find it. I've created several pages from scratch and have been active in WP:Albums. I've just joined Project:Wikify to try & clear some backlog. In working towards Admin I would appreciate some advice as to areas in which I might develop and improve. 03:03, October 10, 2007 (UTC)

I'm not looking for adminship right now (Or even for many months), but since I've learnt most of the stuff already, I'll be out your hair quickly. 41. jonny-mt (talk · contribs) I've been a registered user for about a year and a half now, but it's only been over the past month or so that I really realized what this place is all about. I've been very active in patrolling new pages and users, both in the sense of reverting vandalism, requesting AIV and AIVU, and marking pages for speedy deletion, but also in welcoming new users and giving new stubs their first pushes towards articlehood. These experiences, as well as my own contributions to articles, have really helped me to understand the policies behind this place, and I make a point of reaching out to new editors whose potentially valid articles I have tagged as CSD to help them understand how to contribute in a manner more consistent with these policies. That being said, I would like to get more into the nitty-gritty, particularly policy creation/editing and conflict resolution before I consider standing for adminship. --jonny-mt(t)(c) 05:31, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  44. JavaTenor (talk · contribs) - I noticed that some editors on WT:RFA were expressing the concern that with anonymous page creation re-enabled, we'd need more administrators familiar with deletion policy to handle the flood of new articles. I've spent a fair amount of time doing both new page patrol and working on the dead-end pages project, so I have some experience with the CSD, PROD, and AFD processes, as well as with doing "due-diligence" style research to determine if a particular page is salvageable before deleting it. I think coaching would be helpful to help me determine what other areas I should familiarize myself with before requesting adminship. JavaTenor 17:46, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  45. Gnfgb2 (talk · contribs) I would like to become an administrator. So, I would like someone to advise me on whether they think I would get through a vote.--Gnfgb2 19:35, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  46. Michaelbusch (talk · contribs) I filed an RfA last week, but various editors have expressed concerns about my understanding of the speedy deletion criteria, and deletion more generally. If I read the explanations of votes properly, half the editors who have voted approve giving me Adminship, roughly 35% would perhaps be willing to give me Adminship if I demonstrated better understanding of deletion and handling vandals, and the other 15% seem opposed to me for other reasons. Therefore, I'd appreciate it if someone would be willing to monitor my anti-vandal editing over the next few months, to judge if I should apply again. Thanks. 63. I'm all over the place as far as my areas of interest and I frequently let myself get 'sucked into the stream' by wiki-links and the random article articles button, which lead me to patrolling a wide variety of articles and improving them by adding information to them, cleaning them up so they are easier to read, correcting grammar, context and formatting as well as constantly removing vandalism ... I would LOVE to help with the admin duties, but I won't apply for the position until I get coaching from a current admin because I am determined not to nominate myself - I would like the current admin members to want me to join them ... if I am granted an admin position, I will use the admin functions sparingly and with other admin advice whenever possible - and it would be nice to be able to help out other users when they need an admin – I’m very anxious to get a coach …I'm usually on during the ‘’’graveyard shift’’’ Minnesota (CST) time – thanks Ukt-zero (talk) -- Ukt-zero (talk) 10:17, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
