Alan Shuptrine[edit]

I have undone your edits to the article as they are not valid updates that warrant removal of the template. BLPs need verified sources and you did not provide any.--Oportunityketchuplog (talk) 03:35, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

March 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, Shuptrine's. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 16:17, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I understand my request was declined and I am still blocked, but don't I need to put the COI acknowledgement somewhere on the article in order to be in compliance with rules for previously made edits? I just want to make sure I do everything I am supposed to do so that the page is correct. Thanks, I appreciate your help. Shuptrine's (talk) 19:24, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Orange Mike | Talk 17:08, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement: I am a part-time, paid contracted individual, hired by Shuptrine's to maintain an online presence on behalf of the artist. I am not a family member.

Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked: I understand the reasons for the previous user to be blocked were due to a conflict of interest of not posting that the COI on the page and listing a paid individual as an editor, as well as there being promotional information on the page regarding available services provided by the artist. This was an oversight due to not familiarizing themselves with Wikipedia rules. The rules are now clearly understood and will be followed and all necessary amendments will be made. A new account name will be attributed to the paid individual providing edits with a COI notation.

Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked: Contributions will include additional removal of any promotional verbiage and confirmation for those items to not be listed in the future, to list on the page the COI as a paid editor of this page, and to update this page with factual information that can be verified or provide references when available. Decline reason:

If you want to use your real name as your username, you can, though we advise against it for security purposes. You seem to be suggesting here that you still want to edit about the artist, that won't be permitted in the short term. We will need to first see a good edit history through editing in other areas demonstrating your understanding of relevant Wikipedia content guidelines before permitting you to indirectly make contributions in the area of your conflict of interest. To be frank, Wikipedia has no interest in anyone's "online presence", our only interest is in summarizing independent reliable sources. If your pay is dependent on you creating an article about this artist, I would suggest that you return their money and show them this discussion. Please tell what other topics you might edit about; if you have no interest in editing about other topics, this is likely the end of the road, though you may make a new request for someone else to review. I am declining this one. 331dot (talk) 09:17, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
