License tagging for Image:Richard Sherman a.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Richard Sherman a.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:12, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Moving everything to "quoted" titles[edit]

I see you're moving all sorts of song articles to "song article". Have you discussed this with anyone? I don't think there's any consensus for making these moves; it's highly non-Wiki standard to have an article titled with quotes.

Atlant 17:09, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The above is a bit weak. It is very well established that song titles do not have quotes around them. More importantly we do not change article titles by copy and paste - we use the move command. Please conform to standards. -- RHaworth 18:41, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
For goodness sake! You saw that I had reverted your putting quotes around Hushabye Mountain but you simply go and put them back. This is indiscipline and is liable to get you blocked. -- RHaworth 18:44, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You don't even need them as redirects - just make your links properly! See this edit for example. -- RHaworth 06:53, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrighted song lyrics[edit]

Song articles[edit]

Please stop creating short one or two sentence articles on songs from an obscure Disney movie from 1962. These songs don't need an article of their own, because there's no potential for expansion. Please consider adding to another article rather than starting new articles. Mr Spunky Toffee 17:50, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm amazed at the amount of time and effort you spent to create an article for each and EVERY song in the score from Over Here!. Unfortunately, they're all the same, basically repeating info about the show which can be found in the main article. I'm curious as to why you feel every song in a Broadway show warrants its own listing. I don't believe this is necessary, especially about a show (which I saw and loved) that was neither a major hit nor is known by anyone other than true musical theatre buffs like myself (and no doubt you). It's not as if any of these tunes become recognizable hits outside the production, right? SFTVLGUY2 19:01, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Grandpa Posh!.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Grandpa Posh!.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:You Two wide.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:You Two wide.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 15:26, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Per article cleanup, specifically WP:AVTRIV, please do not add "trivia" to articles. Instead, we invite you to be aggressive in removing—or rewriting into prose—any "trivia" you see. Thanks, and happy editing! RadioKirk (u|t|c) 03:21, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsense word songs--a suggestion[edit]

I have noticed you putting these in certain articles. Might I suggest that you make a category for this, and just place a category marker on each article, as the information you want to provide is not necessary in the articles themselves. --Bouncy 08:51, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hushabye_Michael_Ball.jpg[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Hushabye_Michael_Ball.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. A tag has been placed on Joseph Meyers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Non-free use disputed for Image:Music World Logo.jpg[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Music World Logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:41, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Huckleberry Finn (song), by Wassupwestcoast (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Huckleberry Finn (song) is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Huckleberry Finn (song), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Huckleberry Finn (song) itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 12:36, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:FH000015.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FH000015.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 21:33, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Crstsk (talk) 02:20, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Music World Corporation, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Euphrania[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Euphrania, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Euphrania. A proposed deletion template has been added to the article That Hometown Feeling, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). AfD nomination of Brass Rings and Daydreams[edit]

I have nominated Brass Rings and Daydreams, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brass Rings and Daydreams. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Posh!.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Posh!.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:21, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mousecar.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mousecar.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:31, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:AlSherman1940s.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AlSherman1940s.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --19:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged Image:AlSherman1940s.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Proposed deletion of Why Can't I Be Two People?[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Why Can't I Be Two People?, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of At the Beach[edit]

A tag has been placed on At the Beach requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. frogger3140 (talk) 12:26, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Charlotte's Web (song)[edit]

A tag has been placed on Charlotte's Web (song) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Redirect of Deep In The Dark[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Deep In The Dark, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Deep In The Dark is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Deep In The Dark, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Hello Howard352! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1,554 article backlog. Image source problem with File:Child Catcher Action Figure.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Child Catcher Action Figure.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:34, 25 November 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 03:34, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Carrie Fletcher requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Nomination of Carrie Fletcher for deletion[edit]

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Replaceable fair use File:Joanna Sawyer in Love Birds Edinburgh Stage.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Joanna Sawyer in Love Birds Edinburgh Stage.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 16:37, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article The Big Beat (Sherman brothers song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I came here to move this to The Big Beat (Sherman Brothers song), but having seen the article, I think deletion's more appropriate. Any particular reason why not?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Unreferenced Sherman Brothers songs[edit]

I've been working on trying to clear Category:Articles lacking sources from November 2006, which are the pages that have been waiting longest for refs. There's a cluster of articles on Sherman Brothers songs that you created many years ago. They are good articles, but were written back before adding refs to everything was standard practice. Do you happen to remember what sources you were using for these? Some examples are The Bombie Samba, Hip Hip Pooh-Ray!, Just Say, 'Yes I Can', and Vulgarian National Anthem are some examples. - SimonP (talk) 23:06, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem on Sand[edit]

Your addition to the above article was very close to http://www.livescience.com/38163-where-beach-sand-comes-from.html, a copyright web page. Copying text directly from a source is a copyright violation, even if you cite the source. You need to re-state things in your own words; simply changing a few words in a sentence is still a copyright violation if the structure of the sentence is preserved. This was detected by automatic plagiarism detection software. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Defaultsort template in A Spoonful of Sherman[edit]

Because the title of the article is "A Spoonful of Sherman" it gets placed in the "A" section of the categories the article is placed in. The defaultsort template gives the option to change this shorting especially for articles that start with indefinite articles. The correct use would be {{DEFAULTSORT:Spoonful of Sherman, A}}, which would place the article into the "S" section of the categories. The edit you made back to the article makes the defaultsort template redundant and places the article back in the "A" section of the categories. As such, I have reverted your edit. To show this after I make the edit, look at Category:Musicals by the Sherman Brothers and you will see this article is listed in the "S" section. Aspects (talk) 04:17, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
