Hi. There are some problems with your DYK nomination of Albania (periodical). Please visit the nomination discussion for a full explanation. - DustFormsWords (talk) 07:42, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Reverts

Upon closer inspection of your contribs since your post on FP's talkpage, I note you have performed quite a few reverts over the past few days. Maybe it's time revert restrictions were imposed on you as well. Athenean (talk) 22:42, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

I have3 reverted now banned users like User:MKDLion and User:Greek And Proud so my edits are not edit-warring and I guess that whoever recruited those meatpuppets to cause disruption with a higher goal of getting certain users under restrictions failed since now they are both banned.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 08:36, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Song of Marko Boçari

Is it possible to write down some lyrics of this song? (even in a snippet) I believe I've found something about an Albanian version of this but I'm not sure if this is the specific song.Alexikoua (talk) 01:44, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

There are about 3-4 songs about him in Albanian music. This one is also in Ruches book about Albanian folksongs

[2]. The one you found was probably a small part of this or the song Kapedan Marko Boçari.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 08:31, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Actually there is a big one about his death.Alexikoua (talk) 09:59, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
I don't know but they're not in the same category because most of the new ones were created +50 years after his death.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 10:02, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
By the way, can you find something about this song? (lyrics at least) This snippet explains nothing. So we can save this article for being listed for afd.Alexikoua (talk) 10:18, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

There are a lot of songs about Marko Boçari, but I guess that this is either, Medet për Vezir Alinë, që kur s'dëgjoi Boçarinë të mblidhej me Bushatllinë, për të bërë Shqipërinë. Marko Boçari i tha: Dëgjomë Ali Pasha, po s'u bëmë me ata, Shqipëria për ne nuk ka, do grihemi lakra, do këndojë qyqeja.

or Ngrehu Marko trimëria ngrehu të thërret Greqia të vijë Marko Shqipëria!

(Get up Marko brevery Get up, Greece is calling you: Come Marko Albania) Balkanian`s word (talk) 10:30, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Actually I've asked for the specific song of the article (some youtube stuff maybe?). Ruches has 3 songs about Botsaris, could be one of themAlexikoua (talk) 19:24, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

"3k"

It is irrelevant whether I removed 0k, 3k, or 500k. What matters is quality, not quantity. I removed out-of-contect snippets, which you've been told 100 times is bad sourcing and POV-pushing. I will remove the snippets again, and I trust you won't re-add them again. If you can't add good sources, then don't add anything at all. Athenean (talk) 18:29, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Demetrius Botsaris

I wonder why you are following me around in every single article possible, creating disruption, without never initiating discussion. Now in Dimitrios Botsaris: you added an event about 1884 (no wonder some minutes after I've created this article), unfortunately this Dimitrios Botsaris (the son of Markos) died at 1870. So, suppose it would be kind of you to revert this stuff. Thank you.Alexikoua (talk) 10:39, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflict}For future reference I'm interested in the Boçari clan so stop assuming I'm following you and creating disruption whenever you disagree with my additions. This is a cooperative project and we don't own articles, so sometimes I edit articles you start like you have done in several articles I have started like Musa Demi and Qamil Çami. You can remove that yourself if you want to since I didn't notice that this D.M is Noti Boçari's grandson.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 10:52, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

As I see you confused Dimitrios Botsaris (son of Markos) with Dimitrios Botsaris (son of Timoleon).Alexikoua (talk) 10:45, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

No, actually it seems to be [3] this Boçari, because the son of Timoleon was a politican not a colonel/general.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 11:14, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure, actually this one is Gerenal not Colonel. Actually, its him [[4]] he fought together with Dimitrios Doulis. Alexikoua (talk) 13:28, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

That's what I found in your source: [8], it says that the Germans killed him. I didn't search for "Sachines" but there seems to be a confusion so it would be best if you could find another source to verify it, as I'm not familiar with the event.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 21:57, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Very interesting, seems Pearson doesn't agree with himself, p. 338 [[9]] is against p. 306 [[10]]. However, you didn't missed the opportunity to prefer the other option, without initiating discussion again.Alexikoua (talk) 22:09, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
I didn't search for "Sachines" but "Sahinis", so I didn't even know about it. I think it's a different person or something similar but I'm not sure so it would be useful to get another source or find something indicating a difference in the existing ones.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 22:15, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 20:05, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Macedonian Struggle

Well, this is not really my area of expertise, but I'll see what I can do. Also, do you only want people from Macedonia with a "Greek consciousness", or also the names of the Greek officers and volunteers who participated? Constantine 14:25, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

The names of notable figures who participated in it not just those of native inhabitants.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 14:55, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
Here we go. The list is by no means exhaustive, but these are the most important: among the brains of the whole organization were Bishop Germanos Karavangelis, Ion Dragoumis (Greek consul in Monastir), Lambros Koromilas (consul in Thessalonica), Dimitrios Kalapothakis (chairman of the Macedonian Committee). The armed band leaders were (nom de guerre in parentheses): Pavlos Melas (Mikis Zezas), Konstantinos Christou (Kottas), Sarantos Agapitos (Tellos Agras), Konstantinos Mazarakis-Ainian (Kapetan Akritas),Michail Anagnostakos (Kapetan Matapas), Gonos Giotas, Konstantinos Garefis, Pavlos Gyparis, Pavlos Kyrou, Georgios Katechakis (Kapetan Rouvas), Georgios Tsontos (Kapetan Vardas), Spyros Spyromilios (Kapetan Bouas), Ioannis Demestichas (Kapetan Nikiforos), Konstantinos Sarros (Kapetan Kalas), Konstantinos Boukouvalas (Kapetan Petrilos), Christos Karapanos (Kapetan Zikis), Stavros Rigas (Kapetan Kavodoros), Giannis Avrasoglou (Kapetan Amvrakiotis), Nikolaos Doumbiotis (Kapetan Amyntas) and several others. Most of them were active officers in the Greek army, usually Lieutenants. There were also other officers working under assumed identities as consular employees, of them I know two: Alexandros Mazarakis-Ainian and Athanasios Exadaktylos. Other notable figures who participated as soldiers or subordinate leaders can be found at Category:People of the Macedonian Struggle. If you want any help, let me know. I plan some time now to write the Mazarakis brothers and Koromilas myself BTW, so I request you leave them to me ;). Also, what sources are you going to use? Bibliography is certainly ample in Greek, but I am not aware of any English work dealing with the period. Constantine

Source falsification

This is the second [15] and third [16] time in the last two days that I catch you deliberately falsifying a source. Both sources are available online, and in the case of Himara, the quote is provided. For Preveza, the source is quite clear that Berenikia is not "nearby", and for Himara Minahan states quite clearly the "district" of Himara, not just the town. If this problem continues, I will seek measures, either at AE or RfC. Athenean (talk) 21:04, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

I corrected the Preveza article myself after realizing my mistake [17] which is something you obviously are aware of so saying that I deliberately falsified a source is a false interpretation of my edits. In Himara in the language section according to Gregoric(who is far more RS than Minahan) it is stated that the majority of villages are Albanian-speaking(which you removed under an or pretext) so again I didn't falsify any source. As for your revert on Preveza I made that edit after a request of Alexikoua about the whereabouts of the Berenice.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 21:14, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
In Himarra, Minahan says the district of Himara, what's so hard to understand about this? Would you be so kind as to revert yourself? Also, on Amphipolis, your addition should be moved to the History section, it does not belong in the lead. Athenean (talk) 21:20, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Gregoric who is RS states a too different fact and most of the lead of Amphipolis belongs in the history section but I just added a minor fact without any intention to start a major cleanup which would be possibly controversial.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 21:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Minahan is also RS, and you falsified him. I am asking you as a sign of good faith to undo your edit. If not, I will have proof of bad faith on your part. Also in Amphipolis, your refusal to make a very simple move to the History section is also revealing. Athenean (talk) 21:27, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
He is contradicting Minahan making this a content dispute, which if you consider a mistake can be discussed on the talkpage. Bad faith isn't a policy regarding content dispute and you are saying that you will have proof of bad faith on my part if I don't endorse your opinion regarding this content dispute and if I don't make a simple edit(which you could do yourself without asking me in this way).--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 21:37, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
You falsified Minahan, period. Minahan says one thing, you changed the text to your liking, but you kept Minahan. So you deliberately falsified him. As for Gregoric, she speaks only of language, not ethnic identity. As you know quite well, Greek wasn't taught in Himarra during the communist years. However, that doesn't mean the inhabitants are not ethnic Greeks. And in any case, Minahan's is a book, whereas Gregoric is a Ph.D. dissertation. While dissertations are in some cases acceptable as sources, a book such as Minahan's trumps it. Now, since you so obdurately refuse to revert yourself, I will undo your source falsification, and I expect it to be the end of this. Also, why are you refusing to make the move at Amphipolis? Athenean (talk) 21:44, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

(unindent) Actually Gregoric is more RS and you should read some academic reviews about Minahan's work before making this deduction. Athenean you could have made that simple edit half an hour ago instead of trying to make me do it. If you want to expand and re-organize the history section then don't ask me to re-organize the article's content, because all I did was to add a small sentence.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 21:59, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm not trying to "make" you do anything, I am looking for a sign of good faith, and so far I find none. When I notify a neutral user they have a mistake in falsifying a source, they correct themselves immediately. They don't play games on their talkpage. You are behaving extremely defensively, and your refusal to cooperate is very revealing. Your deliberate falsification of Minahan is noted for future reference. And no, dissertations are not "more RS" than edited publications. Besides, Gregoric doesn't say anywhere that only the town of Himarra is ethnic Greek. Oh and by the way, Gregoric is a "she", not a "he", so your previous referral to her as a "he" shows you haven't even looked at the front cover of her dissertation. Nice going. Athenean (talk) 22:15, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
I made a minor spelling mistake so you're making another false deduction and besides even if I didn't read the front cover I don't think that I could make the mistake of assuming that someone named Natasa is a he.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 22:18, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Haha, you actually capitalized the "He", so no, it's not a "minor spelling mistake". Guess you went and looked her up after my previous post. Well, good for you. Next, you might want to actually read her. Though I can't guarantee you will like what you read. So long. Athenean (talk) 22:25, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
I can't make you stop making false deductions, but I don't think that I'll find anything that I won't like.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 22:27, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Nice work! Think you can find enough to make it an Albanian DYK? We need three more to hit 50! Dr. Blofeld 21:06, 9 August 2010 (UTC) It will be an easy task since I didn't really expand the plot and the other sections.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 21:07, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Can you flesh it out a bit with plot or whatever. A Ralf Moeller hook would be good. Dr. Blofeld 16:44, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

WP:NN

Yes, thanks for the reminder about the notability guidelines. Be assured I have read them long before you came along to tell me to. On the issue at hand, there are two problems: a) the issue of notability in his field and b) the issue of notability for an English-language encyclopedia... On a) I would consider him more notable, if there were more than two sources, of which one is an obituary in a local newspaper and the other a single mention in a book. If these are the only mentions of him you can find, then by definition he had no "significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed", since there are no "independent reliable sources" that are pertinent to the field to verify this. On the issue of him being awarded with an order, based on what I found on the internet, it is hardly "the highest decoration", but one among dozens of awards instituted by the Communist regime to honour a large variety of professions, in this case, writers/philologists. And he was not a Member of the Academy of Sciences, but an honorary member. There is a world of difference here. On b), he may be notable at a local level due to his writings on Eleusina [21] (certainly qualifies for the Greek WP), but there doesn't appear to be much on him for an international readership [22], [23], [24]. There have been dozens of articles on obscure personalities deleted who had far more Googlehits than he. Look, I am not asking for his deletion, but I do expect to see a couple of sources more that confer notability on him. Just to avoid any misunderstanding, I would do (and have done) the same if he were a Greek author writing on how great the Greeks are... Constantine 12:09, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Before the collapse of Communism it was one of the highest but since then it has been the highest because the Communism-related ones have been removed(Liapis was decorated in 1995), but I'll flesh it up if it's necessary.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 12:15, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Alabama Christian Academy

Hello ZjarriRrethues, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Alabama Christian Academy, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to schools. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Theleftorium (talk) 09:49, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion clearly states that A7 doesn't apply to schools. If none of the speedy deletion criteria fit in with the article, you should use WP:PROD or WP:AfD instead. Regards, Theleftorium (talk) 10:19, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm not disapproving the content of your edit, I just told you to use articles not just nouns because that isn't grammatically correct but you're coming to my talkpage and making comments about an endless crusade of disruption. Arbereshe, Arvanites & Souliotes

Hello, I respectfully address to you since I see that you are one of the main editors in the Souliotes article. I really like your work, although I would like to point certain considerations I think they could be useful.

I think that the fanatic interest on placing the Arbereshe, the Arvanites and the Souliotes within the modern Albanian nation or ethne (Shqipetars) with a supposed pure Thraco-Illyrian past is a complete mistake:

1.- The Arbereshe and the Arvanites always beared an "Albanian" conception about themselves in a geographical sence but not in terms of ethnicity. Arbereshe who immigrated to Italy, identified themselves as refugees from the Byzantine Empire. The same way the Arvanites in Greece.

2.- The Souliotes, although most likely originally a branch of the Tsamides by being Orthodox Christians were the torch bearers of Byzantine Christianity, since other fellow Tsamides had fallen into Islamization.

3.- Tosk Albanians and Epirote Greeks according to genetic evidence have very few differences. How is it posible ? The fact is that southern Albania has been inhabited by Epirotes who were considered semi-Hellenic. But the most certain fact is that Tosk Albanins and Epirote Greeks share both an older Pelasgian origin. Here is the connection between true Albanians and Greeks.

4.- The Arberesh consider themselves as the genuine Albanians and do not like to be confused with the modern Albanians (Shqipetars), since they deem these to be the result of foreign ammalgamation (mostly Turkish and Slavic). At this point the same happens with the Arvanites who regard themselves as Greeks but with Pelasgian roots and do not consider themselves as part of the "Albanian nation"

5.- The Souliotes and the Arvanites bravely fought for Greece independence because it meant fighting for Christendom and Byzantium against the Muslim enemies. They never considered the "Turkalbanians" as their brothers. Since modern Albania represent the installment of a recognized "Turkalbanian" state, as the figures depicting a broad majority of Muslim population show, therefore there is no proper sence about labelling the Souliotes within a "modern" albanian context. It would be a mistake such as labelling Bosnian Serbs within a Muslim Bosnian context.

The language question is not a matter to define ethnicity neither, since although the Byzantine empire extention there were many place from north to south were language vacuum was the common, therefore local languages and dialects reigned.

Modern Albania as a state had to build its own history and so they try to paint everything Albanian oriented to build a concience among their people. This way they place Alexander the Great, Skanderbeg, Karaiskakis, Ali Pasha, Markos Botsaris, Ibrahim Pasha, Muhammad Ali and many others as members of the same "Albanian" nation. But very few modern-day Albanians can claim they descend from the Souliotes, instead a considerable portion of modern Greeks can, as Souliotes are listed among the subgroups of the modern Hellenic nation (based mainly upon a geographical and cultural position).

But unfortunately modern Greek historians also need to make everything sound Hellenic to prove a racial purity and continuity from Antiquity to Byzantine Greece unto now-a-days. This way they tend to forgett that the Byzantine Empire was a multiethnic state, with Hellenism as the cultural cohesive pattern, which not necessarily reflects being Greek. As a matter of fact, universal consensus in Greece, tend to label the Maniots and Sphakians as "the purest branch of the Greeks", which should mean that other branches are not that pure. In other subgroups, admixture from every other ethnes certainly occured. Since neighbour states have always been Greece's foes, the Greeks tried to hide and get rid of every sort of alien compound that may be found in Greek history.

I think articles should not try to reflect modern nationalist point of views, because they will otherwise be biased, in this case either leaning towards Albania or towards Greece. I think that a Byzantine context or even an Ottoman context are the suitable, pointing out these people's local identities and that the remnants of the Souliotes and Arvanites are today integrated in the populations of Greece, the same way the Arbereshe are in present Italy.

Thank you very much and kindest regards.-Periptero (talk) 11:52, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
