Before you get too involved, and because it seems to be VERY hard to fix misnamed categories, I thought I should warn you that you've misspelled "psychologists" (you left the h out). - Nunh-huh 04:02, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Novel vs romance

Just looking at your recent edit on the Novel article. It seems to me that a "romantic novel" is still a novel, and that one doesn't contrast a novel with a romance because a romance *is* a novel. Maybe it's just the phrasing, but it seems confusing. And although I know what you mean by the old romance writers, a "romance novel" these days tends to be a formulaic love story, so maybe even that needs to be rephrased. Got your response just as I was about to log out for the night. Watch out for saying that science fiction is "plot driven, shallow characterization, fantastic settings, and written in straighforward language." Most of what I read has strong characterization, might or might not have "fantastic" settings, uses language beautifully. Try Orson Scott Card, Ursula K. LeGuin, for example. :-) But the subcategory "space opera" might fit-- or the qualification "formulaic science fiction" (such as star trek novels, series with a dozen or more books, and so on... but then I'd get in trouble for wanting to lump those in, too :-) ). Strange, when I put in dash "-"(keyboard minus/hyphen), it gets replace by other editors with "–" (ndash, wihich does not respond to nowiki commands), now you edited Doolittle Raid the other way. Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. Barnstar

Dear Zeimusu - thank you so much for the Barnstar - it was most welcome indeed - I had just lost a large amount of text I was trying to insert on the Yakuts and was very discouraged - only to discover a few minutes later that I had been awarded the Barnstar! Most kind of you - and I'm glad you have been appreciating my entries (though many of my entries are still unfinished and I always remain open to suggestions or corrections). You have really cheered me up tonight.

I should be leaving Vancouver, Canada on Monday for my home in Cooktown in far northern Queensland, Australia. I will, then, have access to my books and notes and look forward to contributing more to the grand project of the Wikipedia. However, there might be some delay as I have to finish editing my first book - an annotated translation of the Chapter on the Western Regions from the Hou Hanshu - which is due to be published in late (northern) summer or early fall. Moth list

Hi. I've just noticed your comment on Talk:Moth about the list of moth species getting too long. I completely agree with you even though this is almost entirely my fault! I've been considering doing this for a while but I'm not sure how best to format it. The list does have the potential to be frighteningly vast so I guess it's best to do something sooner rather than later! Perhaps you could tell me your thoughts. Could you drop them on my talk page thanks.

Also I noticed your comment further up about not using non-commercial only images in Wikipedia. I think I may have added a couple of these in these articles: Ghost Moth and Common Swift (moth). Do these need to go? Sorry, I wasn't aware of this policy. Richard Barlow 13:09, 18 May 2005 (UTC)

I see you wrote most of this article. This will be the featured article on the New Zealand portal page in a couple of days' time. I and others have done some copyediting on it, but could you please cast an eye over it for any factual errors which may have been introduced in the process.

Generalization

(copied to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Genrelization) I understand that this is Wikipedia, an encyclopedia, this is my mistake. Once I realized what I had done, I re-posted this entry in Wiktionary. Wiktionary deleted it within less than 12 hours from me posting it initially calling it spam/vandalism and then telling me it was a mis-spelling of the word generalization and conlcluding that there was not enough evidence that this word was in use as a real word.....how can I fix this? rm81dragon 8:00, 16 September 2005

Coriolis not Coriolanis, Sine Rule and references to web sites and spreadsheets

Thanks for your correction of my misspelling / bad memory. I'll try to tidy up Olympic Triangle over time. The reason I put the references to the web sites with the sine rule and to the ability to use spreadsheets to calculate the leg lengths and total course length is because that is what had taken me about 5 hours to work through - how do I know from the sailing instructions for the Nationals (which only specify length of windward leg and total course length) what the angles of the triangle and the lengths of the other legs are. While it may seem of marginal relevance to the sport, being able to quickly access this information and manipulate it is critical to understanding and manipulating the Olympic triangle course. The material you deleted has high relevance to anyone using an Olypic triangle course, particularly when acting as a Principal Race Officer, a member of a Race Committee, or a committee member of an Organising Authority for a regatta using this type of course so I would like to put it back in, even if only as a footnote for additional references. The whole reason for doing the piece was to provide access to that information.

List headers in "states traversed"

I tried to bring this up in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject U.S. Highways under "States traversed / Route description consensus needed". No one replied. Trying to make paragraphs of information look decent in a list is impossible, so we need section headers instead. Usually I go to tables if I need a list with more information than can comfortably be listed (List of Illinois Routes) but here section headers actually make sense. —Rob (talk) 15:38, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Some old images

Way back when the image tagging work was being done, I replaced some of unsourced untagged images with sourced ones. Many could be replaced with free images. I have no interest in keeping any old images that I uploaded with a "fair use" type tag so I don't require any "deletion" notification. BC Tel logo

Hi Zeimusu--I just noticed that you removed the license and commons transfer tag from File:BC Tel Logo.png. The logo consists of a font and two triangles, which I believe makes PD-textlogo the appropriate license; in any case, you did not replace the license with another one, which is obviously important. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
