Proposed deletion of Bristol Badgers[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Bristol Badgers, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No evidence of the independent coverage required to establish notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Nuttah (talk) 18:04, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Bristol Badgers, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bristol Badgers. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Nuttah (talk) 13:19, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bristol Badgers and other UK baseball teams[edit]

"Any reason the London Mets and Croydon Pirates pages didn't attract the same attention from you?"

I assess pages as I find them. To date, I'd not come across the London Mets and Croydon Pirates, but as you point out the do seem to fall short of meeting the inclusion requirements for Wikipedia.

"how would you feel about a page for "Baseball teams in the UK" where the content from all 3 pages would fit - is that a suitable encyclopaedic topic"

Per above, there are inclusion requirements for Wikipedia. Merely lumping pages together will not solve the problem if there is no substantial coverage in independent reliable sources. Nuttah (talk) 10:09, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As I said above. I assess pages as I find them, not as directed by others. However, if you feel that strongly about them please feel free to nominate them yourself. As for a group page, if it meets the inclusion requirements for Wikipedia it will be fine. If it doesn't, I expect there will be a deletion discussion at some point in its life as there was at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bristol Badgers. In general, inclusion in Wikipedia requires the subject to have received coverage in multiple sources. For a sports team/league this is usually considered to be something more than results listings/match coverage, rather coverage in (at a minimum) two independent (not connected in any form) newspaper/magazine articles about the team.
