Want to help me to improve the Xhosa Wikipedia?[edit]

Hi! I saw that you speak Xhosa, I was wondering if you would be interested in helping me to improve the Xhosa Wikipedia. I was in Cape Town last year, and met some Xhosa-speakers who were asking their telecoms for free Wikipedia:

The letter that students at Sinenjongo High School wrote, and the reaction to it from MTN. I wrote more about this here.

So I'm an American from Chicago, and I don't speak any Xhosa, but I have been looking up words in Xhosa dictionaries and starting pages with only a photo and a 'stub' tag on the very small Xhosa Wikipedia. For example here you can see I looked up the word for 'mountian', found it was 'indaba' so I just started it. Then, a few days later a native Xhosa speaker (whom I had never met at all!) saw some of the pages and started to write a few of them. For example here I started the page for 'umlomo' and here I started the Iipijama page with nothing more than a photo. Obviously I have no way to tell if the content here makes any sense at all! I could use some help creating content. I'm happy to do formatting and find illustrations and work on whatever I can. If you are new to Wikipedia, I'd be happy to help 'show you the ropes'.

So, long story short, would you be interested in helping me with improving Xhosa Wikipedia? Victor Grigas (talk) 23:18, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
