Odd situation with vanished user

Hi Wizardman, I encountered an odd situation today. Laurencebeck (talk · contribs) was automatically registered on 29 April 2013 and shows contributions starting from May 2013 up to today. However, his talk page redirects to User talk:Vanished user kweiru239aqwijur3, who supposedly "vanished" on 29 April 2013 [1]. From their contributions they appear to be the same editor, who has obviously not vanished. The question is, do I contact Laurencebeck on User talk:Vanished user kweiru239aqwijur3? I discovered the maze of various levels of allowed knowledge in Wikipedia variously between the lowest vandalism through to Wiki bureaucracy . The tit-for-tatting at the mere typing of a key was so far from safe and responsible behaviour towards fact that I requested through the proper channel to be relieved of the notations of my contributions. And that was effected. Talk pages, tho, still required retention of identification.
There was recently an across various tables quibble about a wikilink from Norman Lebrecht page
to a wikilinked page which can be viewed in the history.
Voceditenore makes one revision —(Per WP:MOS - no links inside quotes) (undo | thank) "no links inside quotes".

the guidance is " As much as possible, avoid linking from within quotes "
Using one of the basic words in language so suddenly on a page given to a musicologist makes for either difficult or dismissive reading. To at once broaden the triteness of the statement and to take measure that the word for the Wikireader has the encyclopedia's reference I put the link.

Just to comment on Voce's point, it does seem that the two are the same user. Since said user did not vanish and started editing a week later, the best move would perhaps be a history merge. To comment on Laurence's point, if you didn't feel this was responsible behavior and needed to vanish, then I'm utterly confused as to returning to the username a mere week later. Ecstatic love for Krishna

Can you please explain more detailed why the page Ecstatic love for Krishna was deleted. The reason for deletion was provided as G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement. The article was written in own words and listed the features of Ecstatic love for Krishna which are described in ISKCON holy scriptures. Ecstatic love for Krishna is the highest spiritual state in ISKCON organization, ecstatic love for Krishna is the ultimate goal for ISKCON members which means that ecstatic love for Krishna has encyclopedic importance. Why this article was ascribed as Unambiguous copyright infringement? What needs to be fixed in this article? Omnidexterous (talk) 14:36, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Question re. Epeefleche's CCI

Hey Wizardman, I was just looking into the CCI for Epeefleche and I noticed that the second article listed mentions that he made two edits to the page, both of which were major. However, when I used Scottywong's User Contribution Search, it actually listed out 18 edits. Is this an oversight, or is there a reason why his CCI does not mention the entirety of his contribution history at the article? Kurtis (talk) 09:58, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

The contribution surveyor lists only edits that add more than 150 bytes and aren't reverts. Furthermore, some of the diffs might already have been reviewed. MER-C 12:54, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

I am trying to reinvigorate Wikipedia:WikiProject Requested Articles, which, if I get enough pointers that there is some interest, I will re-design, with a design similar to Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors, involving drives, to decrease the number of articles listed in the various subpages, and blue link blitzes, involving editors removing all created pages. I am planning, with sufficient interest, to make requested articles 'stricter', i.e. you have to provide two reliable sources, and write a short note explaining why the requested article is notable. There would be a reward system, involving adapted barnstars, similar to the Guild of Copy Editors have here and here. Strongly seconded. The bottom line is that content contributions, particularly outside the occasional overtly contentious topic-areas, endure long after the daily sturm-und-dramas are forgotten. If there is some particular aspect of the project that is making you unhappy, stay away from that aspect. I'm ignorant as to exactly which sturm-und-dramas may have been a problem, but what I do remember about Wizardman is their extensive contributions in an extremely important area where not enough other Wikipedians help. (One might consider it sewage-clearance-und-dramas.) There are many aspects that would be missed if you chose to leave. Thanks for the notes. Alas, pretty much everything outside of article-writing (restarting my project felt nice) has been a royal pain lately, all for different reasons so it's not like I can point to one thing and argue about that. I might as well try to refocus solely on article-writing for the time being. Possible Bwmoll issue

Hey Wizardman. I just created this article from material on this page when I was slapped with a copyright violation tag from Madmanbot. I looked back to see what user added the material, and it appears as though Bwmoll3 (talk · contribs) is responsible for the material added throughout the page. Before I ask them what's up, as I suspect that they also added copyrighted material from here in this edit, although the Internet Archive isn't showing anything making a link. WikiCup 2013 July newsletter

We're halfway through this year's penultimate round, and the competition is moving along well. Pool A's Canada Sasata (submissions) currently leads overall, while Pool B's Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) is second. Both leaders are WikiCup veterans, and both have already scored over 600 points this month. If the round were to end today, London Miyagawa (submissions), with 274 points, would be the lowest-scoring participant to make it through. This indicates that participants will need a score comparable to last year's (573, the highest ever) to qualify for the final. The high scores this year are a testament both to the quality of participants and to the increased focus on significant content (eligible for bonus points) in this year's competition. So far this round, both Sasata and Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) have made up over half of their score through bonus points, with, for example, high importance FA koala earning Sasata a total of 440 points (from a multiplier of 4.4) and high-importance GA sea earning Cwmhiraeth a total of 216 points (from a multiplier of 7.2). Other articles on important topics submitted this round include a featured article on the Norman conquest of England by Wyoming Ealdgyth (submissions), and good articles on Nobel laureate in literature Henryk Sienkiewicz, Nobel laureate in physics Hans Bethe, and the noted Japanese aircraft carrier Hiryū. These articles are by Poland Piotrus (submissions), Australia Hawkeye7 (submissions) and Sturmvogel_66 respectively.

Recently you closed my RfA without citing any policy, guideline, or expressing specific concerns about it. I am accustomed to rows of “oppose” votes and this would not cause me to collapse. Nod, sounds nice, (until the drama finds you...) after writing that, I re-read it in another "tone", and it had a decidedly Yakov Smirnov "sound" to it lol
I've been semi-wikibreaking off and on for a bit, mostly due to real life (tm) intervening. All too often in the past few months I have been somewhere where I was less-than-comfortable signing in, so I've been reading more, and editing less. But hopefully that has changed of late : )
There's a decent chance I may be writing up a new community-wide proposal soon. We'll see.

Two things

So, I talked to Brent, and he has agreed to fix what was brought up, although I don't know if he's going to go ahead and clean up any more. Tonight, while I was searching Commons for an image by Leslie Jones, I ran into Richard Arthur Norton's uploads of his works on Commons, claiming free license, when none of the images on Flickr are under that one. Wizardman, I was wondering if you could take a look and decide whether this unbegun review should simply be deleted, and the nomination put back in the pool, or if it should remain active.

Viriditas opened the review on August 5, and nothing had yet been done on it when 25 hours later Viriditas was blocked for three months. it seems to me that rather than this being a Second Opinion matter, deleting the review page and starting fresh is probably the way to go. There are two WP:RFCs at WP:FOUR. The first is to conflate issues so as to keep people from expressing meaningful opinions. The second, by me, is claimed to be less than neutral by proponents of the first. Copyright problem: LGBT rights under international law

Hello Wizardman. Concerns were raised by another editor on Talk:LGBT rights under international law that the corresponding article is at least partly plagiarized. I confirmed this, identified at least one source of the copying, blanked the page, and reported the problem to Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2013 August 21. However, as this article is the subject of an ongoing RFC on the content (which I initiated), I was wondering if I might persuade you, as an uninvolved WP:CP volunteer, to verify the problem and, if possible, to process the investigation at your earliest convenience. The copyright issues need to be sorted before the discussion can proceed, but as I'm already participating in said discussion I shouldn't be the one determining what text must be removed.

Article Feedback Tool update

Hey Wizardman. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

hi wizardman, sorry about writing again. you deleted this article end of july. in the deletion discussion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Institute_for_New_Culture_Technologies/t0 it was suggested to delete the article and then userfy it on request. could you please move it to my sandbox, so i can work on it? i have just edited the article 'Public Netbase', which is closely reletad to t0, and i have collected a lot of links and references to prove t0's 'notability.' so it would be great if i could continue and soon finalize my work on this subject. i don't know if moving the article to my sandbox might cause any problems. if so, could you please tell me, what would be a better/easier way to edit the article and try to bring it back into wikipedia? thank you! Talk:Slab hut/GA1

Wizardman, it looks like Teb00007 opened this review on August 4, and then disappeared from Wikipedia a week later without actually starting the review proper. Terry created an edit notice that mentions going to a funeral on August 8, though didn't connect it up to the talk page (which I think was the intention). At this point, after over a month, I think the best thing is to delete the review page and update the article talk page to the nomination goes back into the reviewing pool; if you agree, go ahead and do it. Hi Wizardman. I see that you deleted my page on Beyond Budgeting for copyright infirngement. I used the terms Beyond Budgeting, Beyond Budgeting Round Table and Empower and Adapt, which MadmanBot said were copied from www.bbrt.org/bey-bud.html. The copyright for this web site is owned by Beyond Budgeting Association Ltd of which I am a Director. Hence I am using terms form our own web site. Also the terms used are in common usage in various blogs, web sites, books and articles. How can I create a page on Beyond Budgeting without you or others deleting it?

WikiCup 2013 September newsletter

In 30 days, we will know the identity of our 2013 WikiCup champion. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) currently leads; if that lead is held, she will become the first person to have won the WikiCup twice. Canada Sasata (submissions), Australia Hawkeye7 (submissions)—who has never participated in the competition before—and New South Wales Casliber (submissions) follow. The majority of points in this round have come from a mix of good articles and bonus points. This final round is seeing contributions to a number of highly important topics; recent submissions include Phoenix (constellation) (FA by Casliber), Ernest Lawrence (GA by Hawkeye7), Pinniped, and red fox (both GAs by Sasata).

The did you know (DYK) eligibility criteria have recently changed, meaning that newly passed good articles are accepted as "new" for did you know purposes. However, in the interests of not changing the WikiCup rules mid-competition, please note that only articles eligible for DYK under the old system (that is, newly created articles or 5x expansions) will be eligible for points in this year's WikiCup. We do, however, have time to discuss how this new system will work for next year's competition; a discussion will be opened in due course. On that note, thoughts are welcome on changes you'd like to see for next year. What worked? What didn't work? What would you like to see more of? What would you like to see less of? All Wikipedians, new or old, are also warmly invited to sign up for the 2014 WikiCup.
