Your signature
[edit]Hello Welcometothenewmillenium, my name is Howicus. I noticed your signature blinks. I'm afraid that a blinking signature is against Wikipedia's Signature policy, specifically this section, Appearance and color. If you could change that, I'd appreciate it. No huge deal, just something you should know. Howicus (talk) 01:48, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
- Also, per WP:SIGLENGTH, please trim your sig down to about 255 chars. At 346 it's a good deal longer than it should be! Primefac (talk) 22:34, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- -- User:Primefac What was wrong with my signature I just need a better explanation on what went wrong? Is my username too long? Is it the message paragraph that I left on a user's talk page? I want to know to improve it for better. This time I'm leaving the post unsigned just to be safe. --- unsigned user 22:53, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- It's simply too long. Look at this diff. Your sig is longer than your comment. Ideally the code you use for your signatures should be no greater than 255 characters (including spaces). Primefac (talk) 23:00, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]Hi. I noticed you've been editing the Gay icon article recently. Please do carefully consider if the names you are adding are truly "icons", especially to the already bloated list for the 2010s section. I removed some of the names you added as the sources did not state (or at least strongly imply) that they are gay icons. If you find reliable sources that do, feel free to re-add those names with the new sources. From the article's talk page, this section has gotten out of hand in the past, becoming an indiscriminate list of every celebrity who has ever spoken out in support of lgbt folks, which doesn't necessarily make them icons. Thanks. Bennv3771 (talk) 06:44, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
Bennv3771 (talk) - Hi, um thanks for giving me your concerned feedback ... However, please tell me which edits did you reverse of mine in Gay Icons? I can understand reversing Ricki Lake ... However, my reason have you seen the other citation on other Icons and Idols? Some of the Icons do not have citation either maybe you want to take another look at those on the other hand I made several edits and added names of people who are truly "Gay Icons". I even cited them myself with the correct and credit giving to the site. Tell me, how are my sources not strong enough or convening enough about them being gay role models? If you don't have an answer for that maybe you can search and research yourself to see if they are Icons or not with you telling me that they are not. I worked real hard trying to come up with sources to prove that they are. If you don't think the citation is making them strong enough to be icons maybe you could add a source to help make it strong or find out if they are not instead of removing them? ---WeLcOmEtOtHenEwMiLlEnIuM (Talk) 12:48, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
Hi again. The names you added that I removed were: Chris Evans, Channing Tatum, Megan Fox and Ricki Lake. I removed them NOT because I don't think they are gay icons, but because the sources you cited didn't state/strongly imply that they are. The sources cited for Evans and Tatum say they support LGBT rights etc...but that doesn't make someone a gay icon as was discussed here: talk page. There's nothing in those sources to suggest they are seen as icons within the lgbt community. For Fox, the source was just about her being lgbt...being lgbt doesn't automatically make someone a lgbt icon. This is an article about gay ICONS, not gay role models. If you can find sources that state (or strongly imply) that these people are gay icons, then go ahead and add them again with these new sources. And if some of the other people listed in the articles don't have sources cited that state/strongly imply they are icons, then please help remove them as well. Thanks. Bennv3771 (talk) 08:33, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
To add, a gay icon is described at the start of the article as "A gay icon is a public figure (historical or present) who is embraced by many within lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities." Hence, sources would preferably outright state they are "gay icons" or at least state that they have a large lgbt following or are highly regarded within the lgbt community. Hope this helps. Bennv3771 (talk) 08:43, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
Gay Icon response
[edit]Bennv3771 (talk) Thank you, for the feedback I revised Channing Tatum. That's the only one I redid so far.. The source states that Tatum has a massive gay following and is adored and admired by the gay community. To me that sums up on why he's a gay icon. Even though they might not use the words "Gay Icon". It talks about how gay men worship him and not only him supporting the LGBT community but him being aware of his support and being compared to other gay Idols/Icons. To me I feel as though he's an Icon because, he's been publicized for many years about being a huge role model for the gay community. Sorry, for the mixed confusion on cited links maybe, I needed a better source for them. However, I wanted you to be aware of other names mentioned without citation because, I took a look on the talk page and yes I see lots of mixed confusion. I however, felt a little attacked by your edits because, I felt like you were personally attacking me when I'm only trying to help improve the Biography. When I see other names still listed but my are being taken down by you or other users but theirs are not taken down by you or other users? It gets me confused and taken back a bit. You did clarify your reasoning behind all of it and that gave me a change of feeling no harm down. ---WeLcOmEtOtHenEwMiLlEnIuM (Talk) 4:44, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
My edit wasn't meant as a personal attack on you. Apologies if it came across that way. Haven't looked at the source for Channing Tatum, but if it says he has a large gay fanbase then that definitely fits "gay icon". I was actually looking into removing some of the other names that were added by others, but the "famous actors" section as a whole is badly cited with all the sources added at the end instead of next to the actor's names, and some of the sources aren't available online so it's hard to access which sources were meant for which name. Civility in edit summaries
[edit]You recently left this as an edit summary. "was in the middle of editing how rude! Don't ever do that again!".
- First off if you are carrying out an edit and you would like other editors not to edit until you have finished please add this template first {{in use}} to the article as a means of letting other editors know you are editing because there is no other way of knowing who is also editing at any one time.
- Secondly please read WP:OWN which will remind you that everyone is free to edit any article (with the exception of protected pages).
- Thirdly do not try and tell people what they can and cannot do on wikipedia unless it is in contradiction with guidelines or policy as that is what is really rude IMHO.
- Finally if you wish to create a page for a song that is already a redirect then please make sure that when you do so you add sufficient sources to show that it meets WP:NSONG or it will be redirected to another page.
I hope this is helpful for you. happy editing. Dom from Paris (talk) 14:02, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Minor edits & expanded citations
[edit] Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Lauren Jauregui, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that would require no review and would not be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Please note that the addition or removal of content, including citations, do not count as minor edits. Thank you.
Also, It would be appreciated if you add full citations as opposed to bare urls to content. See the citation templates that are commonly used (like ones you see in the Lauren Jauregui article). Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you. Lapadite (talk) 02:01, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
