Even if misguided, willfully against consensus, or disruptive, any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism. Edit warring over content is not vandalism. Careful consideration may be required to differentiate between edits that are beneficial, detrimental but well-intentioned, and vandalizing. Mislabelling good-faith edits as vandalism can be considered harmful.

I'm trying to upload a screenshot, and it wants 'portion' and 'low resolution'. what do I put for these sections? (I looked under "Uploading an Image" but couldn't find anything)
- You're talking about the permissions template, right? The values for those fields are descriptive; are you using the full portion of an image, or only part? Is the image low resolution to comply with NFCC image rules? Just fill in with appropriate text. [ roux ] [x] 23:53, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Weatherscan - Spanish Forecast
[edit]Hi - can you show me video proof that a Weatherscan Spanish Forecast exists? If not, then this information will not be shown on the Weatherscan article. If you continue adding this info on the article without showing me proof that it does currently exist, I will begin warning you in accordance with Wikipedia's warning policy regarding vandalizing/adding false info to articles. Edit summaries
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, as you forgot on your recent edit to Weather Star 4000. Thank you. --Ericdn (talk) 00:11, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Weather Star 4000, as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. --Ericdn (talk) 00:11, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
problems with gadgets
[edit]{{helpme}}I'm using IE 7 and have been trying to add gadgets (friendly, twinkle...). I do everything it says, and as far as I can tell, nothing changes.(Unsigned help request left by Weatherstar4000 (talk · contribs) 17:21, 15 April 2009) Chzz ► 17:30, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Simplest answer is to get firefox. It's better [citation needed], and most of the tools you mention are designed to work with it - their documentation points this out. You're probably always going to have issues with the tools under IE. If the gadgets are working, you'll have extra buttons at the top. For example, 'Friendly' gives me a 'wel' tab at the top of this page, which would allow me to quickly leave a welcome note to a new user. The buttons depend on the page you are on - this one appears because I'm on a user talk page.
If you have further issues, plase ask again, or even better, talk to us live. Chzz ► 17:25, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Question about your user name
[edit]Hi there,
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. I noticed your name, "Weatherstar4000", and that you've been editing the article Weather Star 4000. I'm also worried about a possible conflict of interest.
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.
If you think you might have a conflict of interest, then please read that link carefully, and also WP:BESTCOI.
Please respond below; I will monitor this page. Thanks, Chzz ► 00:45, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
When I joined wikipedia, I just picked a random TWC related username. Although I do like the appearance of the 4000 (and the general presentation of The Weather Channel in thet era), I did not know of the article's existence at the time and did not create any of the Weather Star or Weather Channel related articles. Nearly all of the edits I've made specifically to the 4000 article are related to data and basic facts/descriptions. I hope this clarifies everything Weatherstar4000 (talk) 00:58, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Absolutely; no problem. Thanks for clarifying, I have no further issues. Best wishes - if you ever need help, talk to us live. Chzz ► 04:48, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with File:Jr sunny.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Jr sunny.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Image permission problem with Image:4000 sunny.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:4000 sunny.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. multichill (talk) 16:28, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
